Source: IGGMAs we all know, WOW Classic SOD developers often pay attention to feedback from the community and add a new quality of life features to make improvements, encouraging players to constantly try new content and builds.
Since the official launch of Season of Discovery, a feature that players have long requested is Dual Specialization, which allows players to have two sets of Talent trees and switch between them at any time as needed.
What’s exciting is that this feature is finally officially available with the release of SOD Phase 3. Compared to vanilla WoW, Dual Spec features are unlocked earlier and the price is relatively lower.
In this guide, we’ll explain how Dual Spec works, what it can be used for, and how Alliance and Horde players can obtain it. Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
What Does Dual Spec Do?
Dual Spec is essentially a way for players to have two sets of talents that can be swapped at any time. This means that instead of going to a class trainer and spending WOW Classic SOD Gold to reset Talent points, players can have a backup Talent tree that can be activated from anywhere whenever they are out of combat.
In WOW Classic SOD, Dual Spec only works in Talent tree and does not automatically equip new gear, reorganize the action bar for new skills, or assign new runes that are more suitable for your second build.
Unless you use specific SoD addons, you will have to manually re-equip the gear, apply the appropriate runes to it, and tidy up your abilities and key bindings to accommodate the second build.
Dual Spec allows you to have multiple talent builds at your disposal, giving you the freedom to switch between multiple types of damage within a class, or even switch between two different archetypes entirely.
This type of system is especially useful for players who can play multiple characters in a dungeon or group, or who just want to try something new.
Changes In Requirements To Unlock Dual Spec Feature
In fact, Dual Spec functionality was first added to vanilla WoW in April 2009 patch. At the time, it cost 1000 gold to unlock and was only available to the highest level characters. However, in Season of Discovery, players can unlock this useful feature earlier and for a much cheaper price.
To unlock Dual Spec, you need to make sure you have at least 50 gold coins in your inventory while reaching level 40. As long as you master our previous gold farming guide, getting to level 40 and getting 50 gold isn’t too difficult.
How To Unlock Dual Spec?
Once you reach level 40 and have enough gold, head to one of the two capital cities and look for new NPCs that offer this service, depending on your faction.
Players of different factions should look for the same NPC in Ironforge or Orgrimmar, a dwarf named Grendag Brightbeard.
When SoD Phase 3 first launched, he was briefly located in the neutral hub of Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris, but he has since packed up and is no longer found in that location.
Among them, Alliance players should go to Ironforge near the pool of Forlorn Cavern, and Grendag Brightbeard is located near the tunnel leading to Mystic Ward on the west side.
Horde players should head to Orgrimmar and reach the end of Valley of Strength. Brightbeard is located near Drag entrance, in the northeast corner of the valley.
Talk to him and complete his dialogue to purchase Dual Spec in Season of Discovery. Once unlocked, it can be accessed from your Talent page.
All in all, this covers everything you need to know about how to get Dual Talent Specialization in SOD Phase 3. Good luck with your upgrade!
