As one of the longest-running MMORPGs, World of Warcraft officially ushered in its 20th anniversary some time ago, and a very interesting anniversary event was also held in the game until January 6. In this anniversary event, you can not only get the very iconic Tier 2 sets in Vanilla WoW but also unlock a memorable mount - Coldflame Tempest.
Although this mount is provided to you for free, you need to complete a series of achievements. Under normal circumstances, these achievements will take about a few months to complete, but with the help of this guide and your patience, you can even get it in one or two days.
First, you need to go to Caverns of Time through the portal from Stormwind City or Orgrimmar. After all the tasks are completed, you can get a lot of WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Gold, which can be used to obtain cosmetics.
There are eight achievements you must complete by getting Coldflame Tempest. Most can be completed in a few minutes, but some will take some time and effort. WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 Gold Farming Guide: What Items Should You Stock Up On?
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 is coming soon, and Horde and Alliance players will join forces to fight Lich King's invasion. The highlight of Phase 6 is undoubtedly the newest raid, Naxxramas, which promises to be both the most difficult and the most consumed.
The opening of new raids means more powerful gear. Warriors of Azeroth will need to upgrade their gear to its best condition to face the powerful bosses in the raid, so the auction house will be extremely active. Furthermore, in Phase 6, you'll need WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold even more than in previous phases.
Why Do You Need Gold?
Naxxramas, the most challenging raid, doesn't have specific gear requirements, but you'll need at least the best gear from Stage 5 to survive. Therefore, many players will probably take gold on items from the auction house.
In addition, there's an entry fee to enter Naxxramas raid, which requires materials and gold. This fee is waived only after reaching Exalted reputation with Argent Dawn.
Entry Fee:
- Honored: 60 gold, 5 Arcane Crystals, 2 Nexus Crystals, and 1 Righteous Orb.
- Revealed: 30 gold, 2 Arcane Crystals, and 1 Nexus Crystal.
- Exalted: No items required.
Players participating in this raid will also need to craft consumables like frost resistance potions, which consume a significant amount of WoW Classic 20th gold. You can either save gold or flip items for a profit later.
Recommended Farming Items
Tier 1
- Nexus Crystals and Arcanite Bars
Since entering Naxxramas requires an entrance fee (unless you're Exalted), and Nexus Crystals are essential, they're also essential for crafting and enchanting Tier 3 sets, so demand for them is expected to surge.
These two items are the most essential hard currency, with rigid demand and direct correlation to dungeon progress, placing them at the top of the list. Nexus Crystals may increase in value by over 200%, while Arcanite Bars may increase by 100%-150%.
Recommended Farming Locations
Arcanite Bars cannot be farmed and can only be converted by an alchemist using Transmute: Arcanite skill, which has a two-day cooldown.
Nexus Crystals can be obtained by players with Enchanting profession by disenchanting epic gear at level 56 and above. (Requires Disenchantment skill)
Tier 2
- Greater Frost Protection Potions, their ingredients, and recipes
Several boss encounters in Naxxramas require large quantities of Greater Frost Protection Potions, so they're sure to be in high demand when Phase 6 opens. In addition to the potion itself, its recipe and ingredients will also be in high demand on the auction house.
Greater Frost Protection Potions' recipes can be dropped by Frost Giants (with a 4% chance), but these locations are already monopolized by a few guilds, so it's not recommended for average players to waste their time farming them.
The primary ingredient needed to craft Greater Frost Protection Potions is Elemental Water. Demand is expected to surge, potentially tripling or even doubling their value on the auction house.
Recommended Farming Locations
The best way to farm Elemental Water is at Cresting Exiles in Arathi Highlands. Simply farming ordinary monsters will drop it, with a drop rate of around 17%, though the number of monsters is relatively small.
Another location on a small island off the northwest coast of Stranglethorn Vale hosts. Farming Lesser Water Elementals here also yields Elemental Water, with a drop rate of approximately 14%. However, the advantage here is that there are more monsters, making it more efficient.
Tier 3
- Greater Shadow Protection Potion and its ingredients and recipes
Because bosses in Naxxramas raid deal shadow damage in addition to cold damage, Greater Shadow Protection Potions are very popular.
Recommended Farming Locations
Greater Shadow Protection Potion recipes drop from Shadow Priests and Shadowcasters in Eastern Plaguelands, with a drop rate of only approximately 1.9%, and it takes about 1.5 hours to get one. Because of the long and inconsistent time required, farming the recipe is not recommended.
You can instead farm Grave Moss and Fadeleaf, the ingredients needed to craft the potion.
Grave Moss primarily appears in the following locations:
- Raven Hill Cemetery (Duskwood)
- Kodo Graveyard (Desolace)
- Ironbeard's Tomb (Wetlands)
- Scarlet Monastery Graveyard
- Stromgarde Keep (Arathi Highlands)
Fadeleaf primarily appears in the following locations:
- Dustwallow Marsh: Often yields the highest amounts of Fadeleaf.
- Stranglethorn Vale & Arathi Highlands: Good alternative locations, though the amount can depend on other players.
- Swamp of Sorrows
- The Hinterlands
- Alterac Mountains
- Badlands
- Razorfen Kraul
- Scarlet Monastery
While the value of these items is not always easy to come by, and the recipes are often worth more, a steady income of WoW 20th Anniversary gold is more important than taking a chance on those high-value items.
Other Key Investment Items
Essence Of Water
Besides being a component of Greater Frost Protection Potion, Essence of Water is also a key ingredient for crafting Frost Resistance equipment.
- Recommended Farming Locations: Felwood (7% drop) or Eastern Plaguelands (6% drop).
Felcloth And Mooncloth
Felcloth and Mooncloth have a wide variety of uses, from backpacks and resistance gear to exchanging for Tier 3 sets.
Both items are also in high demand, but they rank lower because of their high farm volume and current value. While their potential for further appreciation may be smaller than the top items, they remain valuable throughout the game.
- Recommended Farming Locations: Felwood, Azshara, and Dire Maul (Warpwood Quarter). Competition in these areas is fierce.
These are some of the most worthwhile items to farm in WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6. Besides farming, players with a high profession level can also actively craft items, which can also bring in significant profits. Hopefully, this information will help you become a gold tycoon.

WoW Classic 20th Anniversary PvP Honor Ranking System Overview And The Ways To Earn Honor Points
If you've exhausted all the currently playable WoW 20th Anniversary dungeons and raids, or simply grown tired of battling pre-programmed enemies, it's time to dive into PvP combat for even more rewards and fun!
PvP system you can now experience has been significantly improved compared to the original Classic. Not only can you earn WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold through PvP combat, but you can also continuously level up through victories.
The more ranks you unlock, the rarer gear and related titles you'll earn. It's important to note that each week, your Honor Points are calculated based on your PvP achievements, which determine your ranking.
This article will explain the basic mechanics of PvP Honor Ranking system and provide strategies for earning Honor Points to earn rewards.
Overview Of PvP Honor Ranking System
This system incentivizes PvP combat through rankings and allows you to earn Honor Points through different types of combat. If your engagement is high enough, you can earn up to 500,000 points per week.
Your Honor Points total is calculated weekly, and upon reaching a certain threshold, your PvP rank increases. Higher ranks increase your chances of unlocking rarer gear.
It's worth noting that all unlockable PvP ranks for WoW Classic 20th Anniversary are only available after the launch of Phase 3, Blackwing Lair. If you've been stuck leveling because of this, you can now resume.
There are 14 PvP ranks in the game, and each rank unlocks corresponding gear and title rewards, the latter of which are permanently applied to your WoW 20th character.
How To Earn Honor Points?
Besides engaging in direct PvP combat in permitted open areas, the game offers a variety of other ways to farm points, which we'll explain in detail.
Honorable Kills (HKs)
When participating in any PvP content, if you or someone in your party kills an enemy faction player within 11 levels of your own, you'll earn Honorable Kill points.
However, it's important to note that the ultimate value of Honorable Kills you earn depends on a number of factors. Therefore, we offer the following tips to help you optimize the value of HKs you earn.
Killing Higher-Level Players
First, you only earn HKs by killing enemies within 11 levels of your own level. This means that if you're level 60 and kill a level 45 opponent, the kill won't count.
Furthermore, you should aim to kill as many high-level players as possible. The higher the opponent's level, the more Honorable Kill points you'll earn - so you should also strive to raise your own level as much as possible.
Of course, if you're not confident in killing players of your own level, you can stick to the middle ground, for example, focusing on killing players around level 50 or 49 at level 60.
Avoid Frequent Kills
Perhaps to ensure a more friendly PvP environment, WoW's 20th Anniversary implemented this mechanism. If you kill multiple players within a 24-hour period, Honor Points you earn will be reduced:
- The second kill will have its value reduced to 75% of the value of HK points earned.
- The third kill will have its value reduced to 50%.
- The fourth kill will have its value reduced to 25%.
- Killing another player five or more times will result in no Honor Points.
Maintaining A Level Balance Among Team Members
If you earn Honorable Kills with others in a group, all members will share the points earned from each kill. However, lower-level members will always receive less Honor than higher-level members.
Therefore, to ensure efficient farming, it's best to form a group with members of similar levels to avoid potential conflicts within the group.
Survive To The End
To effectively earn Honorable Kills, you must not only kill the enemy but also survive. Furthermore, if the enemy is healed during combat, you will not receive additional points for killing it.
Killing Racial Leader NPCs
Although this is considered a PvE encounter, it's a valuable way to earn Honor Points. Every two hours, you can kill the six WoW Classic 20th Anniversary racial leaders to earn Honor Points. If you're playing in a group, the points will be split evenly.
The six NPCs are:
Alliance:
- Highlord Bolvar Fordragon (Stormwind)
- King Magni Bronzebeard (Ironforge)
- Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm (Darnassus)
Horde:
- Thrall (Orgrimmar)
- Cairne Bloodhoof (Thunder Bluff)
- Lady Sylvanas Windrunner (Undercity)
Completing Objectives In Battlegrounds
Battlegrounds are PvP dungeon areas in the game. In addition to earning points by defeating other players, you can also complete special objectives, such as capturing the flag in Warsong Gulch or killing the lieutenant in Alterac Valley.
If two teams battle on a battleground, in addition to Honor Points, the winning team will also receive three Marks of Honor, which can be redeemed for XP and more points. The losing team will also receive one Mark of Honor.
To enter a battleground, you can use the portal at the battleground location or queue up at Battlemaster in your faction's capital.
All PvP Honor Ranking Rewards
Once you earn enough points, your PvP level will increase, unlocking rewards.
Note that listed before the "/ "symbol are Alliance rewards, while those following are Horde rewards. Others are general rewards specific to each faction.
- Rank 1: Private's Tabard/Scout's Tabard
- Rank 2: Insignia of the Alliance/Insignia of the Horde
- Rank 3: Sergeant's Cape/Sergeant's Cloak
- Rank 4: Master Sergeant's Insignia/Senior Sergeant's Insignia
- Rank 5: Blue-Quality Bracers
- Rank 6: Access to Combat Mana Potion/Combat Healing Potion
- Rank 7: Rare-Quality Set Boots and Gloves
- Rank 8: Rare-Quality Set Chest and Legs
- Rank 9: Alliance Battle Standard/Horde Battle Standard
- Rank 10: Rare-Quality Set Helm and Shoulder
- Rank 11: Access to PvP Epic Mounts, Ability to talk in the WorldDefense Channel
- Rank 12: Epic-Quality Set Gloves, Legs and Boots
- Rank 13: Epic-Quality Set Helm, Chest and Shoulders
- Rank 14: Epic-Quality Weapons
That's all for this introduction. Hope you reach rank 14 soon and become a PvP master in WoW Classic 20th Anniversary!

WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Leveling And Farming Mechanics In Dungeons Overview
Even though WoW 20th Anniversary has reached the end of Phase 5, it's unlikely you'll be able to explore every available dungeon unless you play almost daily. After all, there are a lot of dungeons, and they get increasingly difficult as you level up.
However, to earn more gear and WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold, in addition to completing the raids associated with each phase, you must clear these dungeons efficiently, especially if your character isn't fully leveled yet.
For this reason, this article provides a guide to the overall mechanics of WoW 20th Anniversary dungeons. With this information, you'll be able to adapt to any situation.
Basic WoW 20th Anniversary Dungeon Mechanics
First and foremost, all dungeons in the game require a group. Groups typically consist of five or ten players, with some dungeons limited to just five. A tank, a healer, and three DPS players are ideal for this purpose.
These dungeons include:
- Blackrock Depths
- Stratholme (Alive Side)
- Stratholme (Undead Side)
- Scholomance
How To Level In Dungeons?
To avoid the hassle of assembling a group before each dungeon entry, we recommend joining a group that you can play with regularly. This allows you to build synergy through repeated battles and improve your dungeon clearing efficiency.
While there are restrictions on team role assignments, you can choose your preferred class while adhering to basic principles. However, if you and your teammates simply want to complete farming or leveling quickly, there are two popular options.
1. Melee Cleave
This option focuses on leveraging Warrior's abilities like Cleave, Whirlwind, and Sweeping Strikes to consistently deal high damage to groups of enemies, while minimizing the time between farming dungeons using Rage system.
With this approach, your team should be primarily Warrior-based, with a Shaman and Paladin as a companion. Other than that, you can freely combine other classes, but Warrior is always the primary damage dealer.
2. Spell Cleave
The team build for this option should be centered around Mage. Mages can easily control multiple enemies with their Blizzard abilities and the talent Improved Blizzard, dealing powerful AoE damage to quickly complete dungeon farming.
Generally, as long as you ensure at least one Mage is in your team, combining other classes that also deal AoE damage is also possible, such as Warlocks with Rain of Fire and Hunters with Volley, as long as the total damage is sufficient.
More Specific Role And Class Selections
If you don't plan to utilize the above two options and prefer to freely combine your team, you'll need to carefully arrange the roles and classes of each member of your team based on the different divisions of labor in the battle.
Tank
In fact, in all types of combat, not just dungeons, the tank is responsible for maintaining threat, absorbing damage, preventing enemy damage, and healing.
Typically, the best tank choice is Warrior class we mentioned above. They can use their shield and consume threats to generate the abilities Sunder Armor and Shield Slam. Feral Druid and Protection Paladin are also good options.
DPS
Theoretically, all classes can deal damage, but to end fights quickly, it's recommended to prioritize Mage, DPS Warrior, Rogue, Warlock, and Hunter as your team's primary DPS. Hybrid classes are often better suited to serving as healers.
Healer
A healer's responsibility is to promptly treat the wounded or revive fallen allies to keep the team alive.
Holy Priest is often a good class choice due to its extensive healing abilities and buffs. Other possible classes include Restoration Druid, Holy Paladin, and Restoration Shaman.
Which Dungeons Are Available?
Each dungeon in WoW Classic 20th Anniversary has a minimum and recommended level, requiring your character to be within a certain level range to enter. Some dungeons also have faction restrictions.
Each dungeon has its own quests, and if you intend to complete them, your party size is limited to 5 players.

WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 Naxxramas Raid Preparation Guide - 7 Tips
Warriors, WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 is currently scheduled to release on September 25, 2025. The final phase of Anniversary Server is finally here! With the arrival of Phase 6, the most brutal raid in Vanilla WoW will officially open: Naxxramas!
All hardcore WoW Classic players know how dangerous this raid can be. If you want to survive this PvE event, now is the perfect time to prepare!
Whether you want to be the first in your guild to defeat Kel'Thuzad, or simply want to avoid being crushed by his minions, this guide will help you on your path to conquering Naxxramas. Let's get started!
1. Attunements
To enter Naxxramas, you must first complete Attunement quest, which means you need to be in good standing with Argent Dawn faction.
If you've reached Exalted, entry is completely free. If you've reached Revered, completing Attunement quest is still relatively easy, requiring only two Arcane Crystals, one Nexus Crystal, and 30 WoW 20th Anniversary Gold.
But if you're stuck at Honored stage, you'll need to farm a significant amount of expensive materials to enter. Specifically, you'll need 60 gold, five Arcane Crystals, two Nexus Crystals, and a Righteous Orb.
Please note that if you haven't reached Honored stage yet, you won't be able to enter at all. So, while you're still in Phase 5 and there's still time, start farming Stratholme and Scholomance to prepare the materials.
2. Prepare Materials
As usual, the next big thing we need to do is gather the materials needed for potions and flasks. You'll need some common herbs like Dreamfoil and Black Lotus, but Naxxramas also has some unique requirements.
Most notably, you should start stockpiling Greater Frost Protection Potions for Sapphiron and Greater Shadow Protection Potions for Loatheb. This means you'll need plenty of Elemental Water and Shadow Oil.
So, you should either start exploring Scarlet Monastery Graveyard a few times now or stock up while the materials are relatively cost-effective, as these items will see a significant increase in value after Phase 6 releases.
3. Increase Frost Resistance
Next, we think you need to increase your Frost Resistance before embarking on a Naxxramas raid. You really need it.
In Naxxramas, players will face off against the undead frost wyrm, Sapphiron. To balance this encounter, the developers have provided players with gear with strong Frost Resistance.
Additionally, WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 introduces many new crafting patterns. This means you'll need a variety of materials to craft these items, depending on your armor tier.
Needless to say, the value of these items will skyrocket when Phase 6 begins. So, start farming now, or be prepared to invest a significant amount of WoW 20th gold to unlock the final phase.
4. Crafting Class Sets
Similar to Ahn'Qiraj's class sets, Naxxramas Tier 3 Armor Set doesn't drop out of thin air. You'll need tokens earned from bosses and Warorn Scraps from raids.
In addition, crafting this set requires a large number of high-end crafting materials, including Arcanite Bars, Cured Rugged Hide, Arcane Crystals, Nexus Crystals, and Mooncloth. Some classes may require dozens of these materials for a single item.
While the prices of these crafting materials are relatively low now, they're sure to skyrocket once Naxxramas begins. So, stock up on the gear you need now, and consider stocking up on extra gear while you're at it, as you should be able to resell that extra gear later for a ton of WoW 20th Anniversary Gold!
5. Farm Zul'Gurub And AQ20
While waiting for Phase 6 to open, don't forget to run Zul'Gurub and AQ20 every reset. Why?
Two reasons: to pursue Zul'Gurub's Primal Hakkari Idol and the increased spell rank offered by AQ20.
Primal Hakkari Idol can be used on Head and Leg Enchants. The resulting enchants are considered powerful and can keep many classes in top form throughout the game's content cycle.
AQ20 is easier, as the bosses there drop three new spell rank books for each class, boosting the effectiveness of your key skills.
Both raids have short lockout periods, so you can run them multiple times a week until you've collected all the items you need. So, while you wait for Naxxramas to open, start gathering all your items now.
6. Tank Tips
Now, a quick tip for all you warriors out there: start farming your tank set as soon as possible, and make sure to get Nat Pagle's Broken Reel from Gahz'ranka in Zul'Gurub as soon as possible.
This is because Four Horseman encounter in Naxxramas raid requires eight tanks, and every warrior needs to be able to step up and kill the boss when needed, and having a consistent taunt is crucial. The more prepared you are, the better your chances of beating the final encounter in Military Wing of Naxxramas.
7. Learn The Boss Guides
Finally, if you're not already a seasoned player, start studying Naxxramas boss fights.
Now, as the final tier in vanilla WoW, the boss fights that follow are no joke. The mechanics are much more complex, and some bosses can wipe out your team with just one mistake. So, do yourself a favor and start studying the relevant boss guides as soon as possible.
Regardless, you should start preparing for Naxxramas raid now. From stocking up on consumables, to increasing your gear's resistances, to studying boss guides, every bit of preparation you do now will make your journey into Phase 6 easier and give you a better chance of victory!

WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 Release Date, Raids And Events
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 5 is nearing its end, with the final boss of Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, C'Thun, finally succumbing to the combined siege of players. Phase 6 will usher in the final major storyline.
With the opening of the undead fortress of Naxxramas, Scourge will once again sweep across Azeroth. Alliance and Horde players will relive the battle against Lich King.
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 Release Date
Although the official release date for WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Phase 6 has not yet been announced, this estimate is based on the 11-12 week interval between phases and Phase 5's release date of July 10, 2025. Phase 6, which will introduce the Naxxramas raid and Scourge invasion, is expected to release on September 25, 2025.
Naxxramas Raid
Naxxramas is a floating city above Stratholme in Eastern Plaguelands, controlled by Kel'Thuzad, one of Lich King's emissaries.
In addition to earning WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold and epic gear in this raid, defeating bosses in each zone will drop desecrated tokens, which, when combined with the corresponding materials, can be exchanged for Tier 3 sets of each class. These sets are the most powerful Tier 3 sets for WoW Classic 20th Anniversary.
Naxxramas raid is a large 40-player raid with a minimum level of 60. To enter the raid, you must have reached Honored with Argent Dawn and completed a simple introductory quest, The Dread Citadel - Naxxramas, at the dungeon entrance. This quest will require some WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold and materials. Higher reputations reduce the required materials, and reaching Exalted grants free entry.
Naxxramas Raid Bosses
There are 15 bosses in Naxxramas raid, located in various areas.
Spider Wing (Arachnid Quarter):
- Anub'Rekhan
- Grand Widow Faerlina
- Maexxna
Plague Wing (Plague Quarter):
- Noth the Plaguebringer
- Heigan the Unclean
- Loatheb
Deathknight Wing (Military Quarter):
- Instructor Razuvious
- Gothik the Harvester
- Four Horsemen
Abomination Wing (Construct Quarter):
- Patchwerk
- Grobbulus
- Gluth
- Thaddius
Frostwyrm Lair:
- Sapphiron
- Kel'Thuzad
In addition, challenging Sapphiron requires the team to prepare certain frost resistance equipment, and each member must be prepared with frost resistance potions.
Defeating Kel'Thuzad will drop Splinter of Atiesh. Collecting 40 fragments and completing the corresponding quest will grant you the legendary weapon, Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian. This staff is wieldable by priests, mages, druids, and warlocks.
Scourge Invasion Event
Scourge Invasion is a limited-time world event that occurs around the opening of Naxxramas dungeon.
Scourge will invade six zones: Azshara, Winterspring, Tanaris, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, and Eastern Plaguelands. These zones are marked with purple skulls on the map.
Scourge Invasion Rewards
In addition to the usual EXP and WoW 20th Anniversary gold, killing the invading undead monsters will also drop Necrotic Runes.
Necrotic Runes can be exchanged for various rewards at Argent Dawn Quartermaster in Light's Hope Chapel, including Blessed Wizard Oil (for magic) and Consecrated Sharpening Stone (for physical). These two consumables are powerful buffs for progressing through Naxxramas (each character can only carry a maximum of 20).
Also available is Tabard of the Argent Dawn, which includes gloves, bracers, and robes. This set is effective against undead creatures and has good stats. There's also a new three-piece set:
- Regalia of Undead Cleansing
- Undead Slayer's Armor
- Garb of the Undead Slayer
- Battlegear of Undead Slaying
Participating in events and redeeming rewards can quickly increase your Argent Dawn reputation, which is crucial for entering Naxxramas and obtaining cold resistance enchants for gear.
How To Play Scourge Invasion?
You'll need to travel to these areas and attack the undead monsters that appear beneath Scourge Necropolis to weaken the energy within Necrotic Rune Crystal. When the crystal's energy reaches zero, four Cultist Engineers will appear. Talking to them with eight Necrotic Runes will summon Shadow of Doom. Killing it will temporarily clear the scourge circle in the area.
Each Cultist Engineer will drop the following items:
- Necrotic Rune (30) (guaranteed drop)
- Corruptor's Scourgestone (guaranteed drop)
- Robe of Undead Cleansing (chance drop)
- Unic of Undead Slaying (chance drop)
- Chestguard of Undead Slaying (chance drop)
- or Breastplate of Undead Slaying (chance drop)
In addition, some dungeons will have new undead bosses:
- Balzaphon in Live Stratholme
- Lady Falther'ess in Razorfen Downs
- Lord Blackwood in Scholomance
- Revanchion in Dire Maul
- Scorn in Scarlet Monastery Graveyard

WoW Classic 20th Anniversary C'Thun Boss Guide: How To Deal With Its Skills?
A bizarre monster inspired by Cthulhu novels, C'Thun debuted in World of WarCraft as the final boss of Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
The embodiment of Void Lord's corrupting power, sealed within Ahn'Qiraj, he was the first of Old Gods to be unleashed. He was first slain by European guild Nihilum on April 25, 2006, in Patch 1.9. this grueling boss fight captivated nearly every WoW player at the time.
Nearly 20 years later, C'Thun returns in WoW Classic 20th Anniversary. This encounter remains one of the toughest in Ahn'Qiraj raid, requiring even the best teams to expend significant items and WoW Classic 20th gold to achieve victory.
Preparation
Without further ado, This boss fight consists of two phases: Eye of C'Thun and true C'Thun. This boss fight is best led by someone, as each team member's position is crucial.
This encounter is very difficult, and besides each member fulfilling their role, preparation is essential before the fight begins.
Don't overdo it with high Nature Resistance. Just prepare a few Nature Protection Potions for specific situations.
First, be sure to have sufficient Greater Nature Protection Potions (for the inner zone and to counter Eye Beams), Flask of the Titans, Greater Mana Potions, Greater Healing Potions, Demonic Runes, and bandages. Engineering-crafted Goblin Sapper Charges and Thorium Grenades can sometimes be very effective for crowd control and multi-target handling. This may take you some WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold, but the rewards are worth it.
The maximum team size is 40, with 2-3 tanks, 12-14 healers, and the rest as DPS. Melee DPS shouldn't be overly numerous, as the team's spread-out strategy in Phase 1 and handling tentacles in Phase 2 will reduce the margin for error.
Phase 1: Eye Of C'Thun
Eye Beam
2-second cast, 3-second cooldown. Unleashes a random Eye Beam, dealing approximately Nature damage. Eye Beam jumps to another random player within a 10-yard radius, increasing damage by 50% and transferring infinitely.
Players must be at least 10 yards apart for Eye Beam to damage only the primary target. If overlapped, it can only occur on two players.
Dark Glare
Every 45 seconds, Eye of C'Thun fixates on a single direction for a few seconds, then radiates a dark red beam of death, dealing Shadow damage to any enemy targets it touches. Dark Glare slowly rotates 180 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, lasting approximately 40 seconds.
When Dark Glare activates, the player facing the direction Eye of C'Thun is facing immediately moves away. Everyone need to watch the direction of the red light and avoid it, and anyone who touches it will die!
Eye Tentacle
Every 45 seconds, eight Eye Tentacles will spawn and be evenly distributed around Eye of C'Thun, and Eye Tentacles can be paralyzed, stunned, and countered.
When an Eye Tentacle spawns, all players must kill the corresponding Eye Tentacle as soon as possible. If an Eye Tentacle cannot be killed immediately, use skills or grenades to interrupt Eye Tentacle's Mind Flay.
Claw Tentacle
During combat, Eye of C'Thun will continuously summon claw tentacles to attack random players, and Melee DPS will only deal minimal physical damage.
When a claw tentacle spawns, any player knocked back by it must immediately return to their original position and kill it. Surrounding DPS must assist the player in killing the claw tentacle. During Dark Glare, be aware of the claw tentacle's knockback and slowing effects.
Phase 2: C'Thun
In Phase 2, C'Thun's main body is protected by the power of Old Gods, reducing damage by 99%. The two Flesh Tentacles within C'Thun's stomach must be killed to damage the main body.
Giant Eye Tentacle
Every 60 seconds, a Giant Eye Tentacle will spawn at the feet of a random player. It has high health and continuously releases Eye Beams, but it can be stunned, interrupted, or countered.
The first Giant Eye Tentacle will spawn 30 seconds into Phase 2, coinciding with the first Eye Tentacle. It's crucial to plan your stun and interrupt chains in advance to prevent it from releasing its Eye Beams. Kill it quickly while ensuring you can interrupt it.
Giant Claw Tentacle
Every 60 seconds, a Giant Claw Tentacle will spawn at the feet of a random player. It has approximately twice the health of Giant Eye Tentacle and deals high melee physical damage. It can be stunned.
Giant Claw Tentacles will spawn immediately at the start of Phase 2, alternating with Giant Eye Tentacles. Tanks must immediately intercept and capture Giant Claw Tentacles. DPS should kill Giant Claw Tentacles immediately if they are not assigned to deal with Eye Tentacles. Use various stun-type crowd control abilities to reduce the pressure they place on tanks.
Devour
Every 10 seconds, Devour Tentacles will spawn at the feet of a random player, devouring them and teleporting them into C'Thun's maw.
If a melee DPS is devoured, it's best to step onto the black launch pad and exit immediately. Ranged DPS should be dealt with after being devoured.
Flesh Tentacle. You must teleport out around the 4-5 levels of Digestive Acid. Healers who are devoured can heal ranged DPS on the battlefield and teleport out around the 4-5 levels of Digestive Acid. A Nature Protection Potion can extend your stay.
Weakened Phase
Once both Flesh Tentacles in the inner arena are killed, C'Thun will enter a weakened state for 45 seconds. During this time, all tentacles will cease to spawn, and their damage to the main body will be significantly increased.
The swallowed player should communicate with the external commander. It is best to kill the last Flesh Tentacle after both Giant Eye Tentacle and Giant Claw Tentacle have been cleared. This allows the team to focus on the boss.
Responsibilities Of Each Class
Tank
In the second phase, promptly engage Giant Claw Tentacles and use stuns to control them.
Melee DPS
Phase 1 prioritizes Eye Tentacles, while Phase 2 assists with control (interrupting, stunning) and killing Eye/Claw Tentacles. After being swallowed, exit as quickly as possible.
Ranged DPS
Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 prioritize quickly killing all tentacles (Eye > Claw > Boss). After being swallowed into the inner arena, use Greater Nature Protection Potions to deal with Flesh Tentacles.
Healer
Focus on the main tank, the team members targeted by Eye Beam, and the team members emerging from the inner area. Once swallowed into the inner area, you can heal DPS inside.
The above summarizes the main challenges and general process of C'Thun encounter. As long as you communicate well with your team, you'll be able to defeat the boss and get rewards such as gear and WoW 20th Anniversary gold.
