  • WOTLK Classic: Top 5 Ways To Get Epic Gems In Phase 3

    Posted: Apr 13, 2023

In this article, we’re talking everything about Epic Gems.

    Why Epic Gems Are Important?

Epic Gems are coming in Phase 3 as well as huge money-making opportunities you don’t want to miss out on. Every single gem slide will have to be replaced for both PVEs and PVPs.

But did you know you already have a ton of different currencies you can use to purchase Epic Gems just sitting on your character? I’ll explain how you can unlock all your Epic Gems as well as the five ways to get Epic Gems from worst to best.

What’s New In WotLK Classic Phase 3?

Starting out in Phase 3, we’re going to have six new gem types that match the current blue colors. To go with all these new gems, we’re also going to have new gem cuts.

In fact, there are going to be 73 new recipes from the jewelcrafting vendor. Each of the new recipes will cost four Dalaran Jewelcrafter’s Tokens each for a total of 292 required.

Though I wouldn’t recommend going out and getting every single recipe, I’m actually just researching business and I’m just going to purchase the relevant gems for each class.

If you’ve been doing the jewelcrafting daily religiously every day, you’re only getting one Token a day. Of course, you can supplement that with Damaged Necklaces for an extra Token per necklace.

But the main way to unlock these recipes in Phase 3 will be with Titanium Powder. In my testing, every single or I prospected had about a 15% chance to give me a Titanium Powder and then after you get 10 Titanium Powder, you can turn them in for one Dalaran Jewelcrafter’s Token.

    5. Fishing

With recipes out of the way, let’s get into the five best ways to get Epic Gems.

If you’ve read my guides before, you’ve probably noticed that I love fishing in Phase 2. That’s because the daily quest from fishing can give you Epic Gems in the form of Stormjewels. Right now Stormjewels are worth over 500 WOTLK Classic Gold each and they’re a really good profit driver.

But there’s a problem with Stormjewels. They’re unique equipped. But in Phase 3, the unique equipped requirement is removed, so you can wear as many as you want. That means prices are going to tank down and people might not realize that you could actually fill out your character with just Stormjewels.

Depending on your class, you could just stockpile a bunch of Stormjewels and not have to worry much about Epic Gems at all.

    4. Transmute

Moving into number four, we have transmute.

Alchemy transmutes are going to be a great way to get Epic Gems. You can transmute any color of Epic Gems on a 20 hour cooldown. Every transmute requires an Eternal (Eternal Fire) and a blue gem (Scarlet Ruby) of a specific type. This actually means that blue gems should hold a pretty good value because you can use them for transmutes.

There is a weird corporate transmuting, though to unlock Cardinal Rubies, you’ll have to complete a quest. That quest is super easy. It just requires you to do five Epic Gem transmutes. Also, it may not be like this on the live servers.

But when I was testing, just transmuting one gem would put all of them on cooldown for 20 hours. Unfortunately, that makes this a pretty inefficient way to get Epic Gems though speaking of things that don’t have a 20 hour cooldown.

    3. PvP

Moving on to number three, we have PVP.

PVP is actually a really great way to make WOTLK Classic Gold and Epic Gems in Phase 3. Every gem from the PVP vendors is 10,000 Honor, which means you can snipe the most expensive gems you want. Since every gem is 10,000 Honor, you could theoretically already have seven gems free-farmed.

I’d highly recommend doing Wintergrasp on all your characters on cooldown for that 20,000 Honor per hour. It’s also worth noting that you can pre-farm Wintergrasp Commendations for 2,000 extra Honor each or if you prefer Arenas, you could also get Commendations of Bravery for 2,000 honor for 100 Arena Points each.

And loosely related to PVP, I also wanted to mention the Nightmare Tear. This is a brand new unique equipped 10 stats gem added to ToC. The recipe is unlocked just like the other jewelcrafting recipes, but it requires a Dragon’s Eye and 5 Infinite Dust.

With the enormous 10 stats, I can definitely see a lot of PvPers wanted to run this gem.

    2. Emblems Of Heroism

Next up, at number two, we have Emblems of Heroism.

You’ll be able to purchase Emblems of Heroism primary color Epic Gems for 20 emblems each. Meanwhile, the mixed colors will actually be cheaper at 10 emblems each.

What’s really awesome about being able to buy gems for emblems is that you could technically pre-fawn them right now. Though you might be thinking you can only get Emblems of Conquest in Emblems of Valor right now, so how do you get those heroism emblems?

You could actually downgrade your emblems at a one-to-one ratio at the Goblin NPC in the Dalaran Sewers. That means that the best way to farm emblems actually isn’t in dungeons, but in raids. Especially once the nerf 10 and 25-man Ulduars come out, they’ll just be so amazing for emblems.

There’s also speculation that there could be a new Titan Rune Mode update that would boost the popularity of dungeons or if that doesn’t happen, they could always add Random Dungeon Finder in which would really boost emblem generation.

    1. Titanium Prospecting

Let’s get to number one, the best way to get epic gems, Titanium Prospecting.

If you’ve read my guides, you can tell I put my money where my mouth is. I’ve actually invested in over 8,000 Titanium Ore. So, to see if my investment would actually pay off for me, I decided to do a test run on vanilla wrath. I obtained a thousand ore, which at current prices would be about 2,000 gold.

After doing all my prospecting and checking the results, I was pretty surprised by a thousand Titanium Ore. I was able to get 30 total Epic Gems. That means that three percent of my ores contained an Epic Gem. Assuming that prices are at least 100 gold per gem on the first day, that’s some pretty big profit.

On top of the Epic Gems, I also got 75 blue gems. Hopefully, those blue gems can hold value, especially with transmutes. There were also tons of common gems generated, so crafting and disenchanting should be profitable.

It’s also very relevant to note that I got 149 Titanium Powder from all these prospects. Since that powder is the best way to get Epic Gem recipes, it should have some pretty good value.

  • WOTLK Classic: Are Epic Gems Worth DPS For All Classes?

    Posted: Apr 12, 2023

Today, we’re talking about Epic Gems. They will be officially added to the game in Phase 3 with the release of Trial of the Crusader Raid. Right now we have a bunch of Rare Gems in our gear. So now we’re left with the question of whether it’s worth upgrading your Rare Gems to Epic Gems when Phase 3 comes out.

So, I checked out the best Phase 2 Slot Settings for every category and spec on the official website and used their simulation tool. I compared the difference between Phase 2’s Best Slot Settings using Rare Gems and Phase 2’s Best Slot Settings using Epic Gems for each class.

    The Chart

Every class is known to do a decent amount of damage by upgrading to Epic Gems. But each class gets a different damage boost after upgrading to Epic Gems.

We can see that the specs of Affliction Warlock, Ret Paladins, Fury Warrior, and the two Death Knights have the greatest impact both in terms of total DPS gain and per Gems DPS gain. But it brought about none of these settings through Jewelcrafting.

So keep in mind that if you’re Jewelcrafting, the total payout might be a little less. Because you have three less upgradeable Gems slots. But the average earnings per gem should still be very similar. My takeaway from this graph is that upgrading to Epic Gems is a big DPS gain for every class and spec.

I could talk about Rogues in more detail. The upgrade to Epic Gems is for a bigger DPS upgrade than any single best Slot Settings in WotLK Classic. You can also see the simulation settings I used for each category and specification here in the diagram.

    How To Get Epic Gems

We’ve determined that upgrading your best Slot Settings to Epic Gems in Phase 2 is a pretty big deal for your character’s damage output. But how do we go about it?

We know that epic gems will appear in Phase 3. But there is still a question about how exactly we can get these Epic Gems. Because we don’t have any official information from Blizzard. But prospecting Titanium Ore is one way I think it is a good chance of getting Epic Gems in the current Phase 3 period.

Another feasible option is to find rare items dropped from Icy Prism as Jewelcrafters. Because now the instructions have been released that you can exchange 10 Emblem of Heroism for Epic Gems or 20 Emblem of Heroism for single-color Gem for every 10000 Honor.

Although I’m a bit skeptical that it will work out of the box. But that’s just my guess. I’m just going to keep stocking up on Emblem, just in case, while avoiding wasting WOTLK Classic Gold. Remember, you can exchange any type of Emblem for an Emblem of Heroism. You can also earn more Emblems by actively participating in Rammus and Heroic Dungeons.

Is It Worth It To You

That’s all I have for you today. I hope you find this information helpful, as it helps you with any questions you may have about whether doing something in the game is worth it.

It’s more a matter of personal effort or time and what you want to invest in or what your real priorities are. I can give you info on DPS buffs, but ultimately it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth the time to pursue it. have a beautiful day.

  • WotLK Classic Phase 3: How To Get Loads Of Epic Gems?

    Posted: Apr 04, 2023

We all know that our we will get more DPS after upgrading our gems to Epic Gems. Of course, if we can get some Epic Gems directly, we can save a lot of WOTLK Classic Gold which is used to upgrade gems. WOTLK Classic Phase 3 is coming. How should we get loads of Epic Gems to prepare for its arrival?

    Prospecting Titanium Ore

I think the most commonly anticipated way of obtaining gems is going to be from prospecting Titanium Ore and I’m sure there're loads of you that are stacking up on thousands and thousands of Ttanium or getting ready to basically start spam prospecting it all to get ahead of everybody else in terms of the amount of Epic Gems you’ve got.

Now, the chances of getting Epic Gems in them do seem quite high. It’s not just the Epic Gems that we’re actually after here. One of the big ones is Titanium Powder, and we’ll go and have a look at what that’s for in just a second.

As you can see, I’ve prospected nearly a hundred Titanium Ore at the moment without getting a single Epic Gem. Of course, some of it is luck and you might get five Epic Gems in very quick succession. I just took 95 ore to get a single Eye of Zul. Out of 100, we did get 14 Titanium Powder.

Now looking at historic post here on Wowhead, you can see that this guy prospected 7080 Titanium Ore, which was 1416 prospects. They got 405 epics 377 Blues 2,259 greens and 1076 dust. He broke down the percentages and we can probably expect these to be very similar to what we’re going to expect in WotLK Classic.

What do you use the Dust for? When Phase 3 rolls around, there’s going to be a lot of new recipes that you’re going to need to get because basically all the recipes you’ve got for the blue gems at the moment you’re going to need to get all the Epic variations of them as well.

Timothy Jones is the guy where you normally get your daily quest from. He is the one that sells all of these epic recipes and you can see they’re all for each. And to get all the recipes, you’re going to need a lot of Jewelcrafter’s Tokens and if you was to rely solely on things like damaged necklaces and doing your dailies, it’s going to take you a long time to get them all.

Now, originally on the PTR for Trial of the Crusader back in the day, it was a daily quest that you handed 10 of these Titanium Powders in. When I said daily quest is a repeatable quest, instead now you can just purchase them from the vendor.

10 titanium Powder is one Dalaran Jewelcrafter’s Token. So, if this is how you start getting lots of tokens to be able to obviously purchase recipes. So, not only are you stacking up on Titanium Ore to be able to get the Epic Gems, you need to stack up on Titanium Ore right now to be able to get the Titanium Powder to be able to purchase the recipes.

The people with the big recipes first are going to be the ones that are absolutely making Bank off of the Auction House. So, this is the Titanium Ore rule of getting gems, specifically Epic Gems, but there are other ways.

    Crafting Icy Prisms

As a jewel crafter with a Frozen Orb and a few of just rubbish green gems, you can make an Icy Prism. Inside the Icy Prism, you do have a chance at getting Epic Gems. In the Icy Prisms at the moment, you’ll be used to if you have a lucky day getting a Scarlet Ruby, maybe a Dragon’s Eye, as well. But you can also get the Epic gems.

Now, I don’t want to mislead anyone by saying that you’re going to see lots of these because, actually, out of around 25 Icy Prisms, I saw one Epic Gem. Of course, on WotLK Classic, they could have a lot higher drop chance out of these Icy Prisms, but again, just another way you can get epic gems.

    Saving Emblems Of Heroism

The third way and outside of Titanium Ore, the most common will probably be Emblems of Heroism because after a couple of weeks into each phase, we’re normally swimming in emblems with nothing to spend on anyway and you’ve probably got lots saved up ready.

But the red, blues and yellows you can get for 20 Emblems of Heroism each, the greens, purples and oranges, you can get for 10 Emblems of Heroism each. So, doing the older content be it heroic dungeons or EOE, any of those is absolutely worthwhile because at the start the gems are going to sell very well or you might just want to use them yourself. So, I’m saving all my emblems to get as many of these yellow gems as possible on day one from emblems without having to lay out any WOTLK Classic Gold. The rest I’m going to try and get from Titanium Ore.

    Alchemy

Even though it’s only one a day, Alchemy is another solid way to be able to get Epic Gems and if you’ve got lots of Alchemists and you’ve got them all sat there waiting for Phase 3 as Transmutation Master. You’ll be able to make more than just one of these a day.

But basically, using an Eternal Fire and a Scarlet Ruby every 20 hours, you’ll be able to make a Cardinal Ruby and an Ametrine. It’s a Monarch Topaz and an Eternal Shadow. You get the gist here is basically the blue or the rare variant of the same color gem, plus one Eternal.

The only one that differs here is Eye of Zul, which is the green gems where it takes three Forest Emeralds and no Eternal whatsoever. But I can’t see you wasting many of your daily cooldowns on Eye of Zuls, which are the green gems.

Ways Suitable For Players Who Like Or Dislike PVP

Even Alchemy has a way of getting Epic Gems, what about if all you like doing is PVP?

Also, you can get Epic Gems 10,000 Honor points per Epic Gem, which is not actually that much you could quite easily farm forty thousand or fifty thousand on a right now just to be able to pick yourself some Epic Gems up as soon as Phase 3 launches.

For some reason you don’t really like PVP or you’ve got no reason to PVP, do it for your gems, do the odd Battleground here and there every day, every other day, a couple of times a week whatever, just to get some on it or even just do Wintergrasp just to get honor.

And then, you’ll be able to get yourself some Epic Gems this way as well. So, mixing in just Emblems of Geroism and Honor, you’re probably nearly going to be able to kit all of your gear out with Epic Gems without even having to do a great deal. Pop to the Auction House and get some Titanium Ore.

Now, even if you’re not in Jewel crafting, get somebody in your guild to prospect it all. Let them keep the Titanium Powder so they can purchase recipes. But if they get Epic Gems, you get the Epic Gems, which they’ll be able to get recipes with the Titanium Powder to cut the gems for you.
