  • MLB The Show 25 Diamond Dynasty: What Updates Will This Main Mode Get?

    Posted: Mar 05, 2025

With the weather about to warm up, now is the time to go out and exercise every sunny day! But if you don’t have time to go outdoors, or you are a real homebody, modern technology can even provide you with the opportunity to play “virtual” sports, that is, playing various video simulation sports games!

At present, the sports included in sports video games are mainly ball sports, such as football or basketball, while MLB The Show 25, which will be officially released on March 18, is a baseball game, and its birth is based on the success of MLB 24.

In order to ensure that the new version of the game can continue to bring you a good experience, the developer has upgraded and updated many major gameplays of MLB 25, and this time we will introduce you to the changes that Diamond Dynasty mode will get.

Yearlong Progression Will Become The Protagonist

The launch of this system means that MLB The Show 25 will no longer use Sets & Seasons mechanism, and you will no longer need to use cards by season, but can use your cards unlimitedly throughout the year. This change is expected to be very welcome, as it means that MLB 25 Stubs you invested in for your cards can actually work.

The old system actually prevented you from using cards in matches immediately after you obtained them through Stubs, but instead had to wait for their qualification time, but the new system obviously solves this dilemma and makes Live Series cards viable again.

    New Feature-Diamond Quest

This new gameplay is a bit like an upgraded and modified version of Conquest mode in past games, with a little rogue style. In Diamond Quest, you will have the opportunity to fill the game board, generally participate in Moments, Bosses, and 3-inning games, to earn an in-game currency called Peanuts - which can be exchanged for additional benefits.

It is worth noting that when you play at higher difficulties on the board, you may even unlock higher-rated cards and even better rewards. However, if you have been tired of Conquest mode before, then Diamond Quest is only suitable for you to do reward farming, and the gameplay itself is not very new.

    Weekend Classic

According to some known information, this mode is similar to Champions in EA FC series of games. It is highly competitive and will allow you to compete directly with equally powerful players for rewards based on your higher account level. However, the difference is that MLB 25’s Weekend Classic will only run once at the end of the season.

In this mode, you need to earn rewards through winning streaks. If you start with 6-0, you will also get top rewards, and the more games you win and the higher your ranking, the more benefits you can get.

    Upgraded Team Affinity

As a core component of Diamond Dynasty mode, Team Affinity will become better in MLB The Show 25. In the new Team Affinity, each team can unlock its own rewards to unlock, which can help you build your own theme team based on your favorite team or Captain boost.

Next, it is expected that Team Affinity will drop in real time throughout the year, which means that even if you are a new player, you can always get benefits through this mechanism.

    Merged Multiplayer Program

After entering the new version, MLB 25 has changed the previous way of running several multiplayer games at the same time, and merged all multiplayer games into one program, which means that all mini-games will be settled on the same path for rewards.

To be honest, this is definitely a change that you will welcome, because the previous multiplayer setting requires you to play multiple mini-games at the same time to earn enough MLB The Show 25 Stubs, which is very energy-consuming. But after all the mini-games are merged, you can focus on one goal, making it easier to unlock rewards.

    Spotlight & My Legacy

Almost every version of MLB The Show will have players and theme programs returning, and the new program this time will be Spotlight. As a new way to play through weekly and seasonal rewards, it is a bit like Topps Now, and will be launched on a weekly and monthly basis. It will celebrate the best MLB players in real life at that time in the game.

As for My Legacy program, it is more of a system that focuses on honor than letting you compete in the game, such as providing you with some decorative rewards when you reach a certain number of doubles or home runs in Diamond Dynasty.

    New Presentation Packs

Rather than a new mechanic, demo packs are more like an Easter egg for MLB 25, making your MLB 25 journey more interesting by letting Diamond Dynasty provide some new presentation packs based on what you play. Although this feature is not new, it is at least better than nothing.

These are the various changes that will happen to Diamond Dynasty in MLB The Show 25. You can prepare for these changes before the game is officially released and welcome the official arrival of MLB 25!
