In Diablo 4’s first expansion Vessel of Hatred, players have many more builds to choose from because of the addition of new classes and mercenary mechanisms. I believe many players want to try the new Spiritborn, but don’t know how to choose the best build for it.
Don’t worry, if you are a person who likes to use some poison to damage the enemy in the basic game, then Touch of Death Spiritborn Build that this guide will introduce to you will be your best choice. In addition to the super high damage, the methods used by the entire build in combat are also very simple, and you can even spend the endgame stage very leisurely.
Of course, the ability of an optimal build still depends on the skill tree and some items you choose for it, especially now that there is a new mechanism called Mercenary, which greatly affects the ability of this build. So this guide will give you a detailed introduction on Touch of Death Spiritborn Build’s Skill Tree, Guardian Spirits and choice for Mercenary for you to explore easily.
About Touch Of Death Spiritborn Build
First, let’s introduce Touch of Death Spiritborn Build, which is a very powerful build with high damage and high survivability. Although its mobility is not as good as other Spiritborn Builds, and it is not good in terms of rapid farming ability, its high damage can make some enemies or bosses instantly defeated when they enter the range.
So in order to achieve the best effect, Insatiable Aspect must be placed in the build, because it can maximize the effect of the most core skill of the build, Poised Touch of Death - every time you kill an enemy, you will increase the duration of this skill, and it will cause explosion damage after a period. These abilities turn this skill that was originally difficult to coherent groups of enemies into a versatile skill, and single target damage is also preserved.
Skill Tree
One thing we need to make clear is that in this build, our first focus is on Touch of Death as the main damage dealer, and secondly, choose some defensive skills to improve the survivability of the build. This will make your skill points and Diablo 4 Gold spent much more valuable.

Key Passive
In this build, Key Passive you can choose is Noxious Resonance. Because this will cause your Critical Strikes to cooperate with the poison effect you previously applied to the enemy, causing explosive damage. However, it should be noted that you need to choose some Diablo 4 Items that can increase Critical Strikes Chance in your build to maximize the effect of this passive skill.
Spirit Hall Choices
In the new Spiritborn Class, you pick two Guardian Spirits and designate them as Primary and Secondary, which sets the playstyle for the build. In Touch of Death Spiritborn build, you have the choice between Centipede and Jaguar, though it relies on Gorilla Guardian Spirit abilities.
Primary
Centipede is the best choice for Primary Guardian, as it reduces all enemy damage and gets some poison damage from Craze of the Dead God Gloves to use with your abilities. On top of that, it also slows down enemies, which are great for those with more agility.
Secondary
Jaguar Guardian Spirit gives the build a way to generate Ferocity, which is required to activate Ring of the Midday Hunt's passive ability. This causes all poison damage DoTs inflicted on enemies to deal with the same amount of damage as normal over a 30-second period.
Mercenary Choices
When choosing a Mercenary for a Touch of Death Spiritborn build, you need to focus on who can make enemies vulnerable faster and who can cause longer-lasting Crowd Control. The only two that meet both criteria are Raheir and Varyana.
Like Guardian Spirits, you also need to choose a Mercenary as your first choice. Raheir’s ability to heal you and transfer your damage to it makes it a worthy Mercenary. Also, this will give you a better chance of surviving to pick up Diablo 4 Gold that enemies drop after the battle.
Or if you’re more focused on the combat experience, you can also choose Subo, which can cause the enemy to be vulnerable. But the same thing is that you need to use Varyana as your Reinforcement and choose the Earthbreaker ability that you can trigger when you cast Scourge. This will make it more difficult for enemies to escape the poison cloud, and your Oppressive passive can be better cast.
These are some of the skill trees, Guardian Spirits, and Mercenaries you can choose for the Touch of Death Spiritborn Build in the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred DLC. It should be noted here that all choices are calculated based on the best state, and you can also modify them according to your own gameplay.
