If you have been playing Diablo 4 since Season 2, you must be familiar with Echo of Varshan. It has been the endgame boss of this game since then. Like other endgame bosses, Echo of Varshan will also provide you with some very useful loot for your endgame builds.

But in fact, defeating Echo of Varshan is not a simple task. You need to collect some rare summoning materials and summon it at a designated location before you can start your fight with it. How To Find Echo Of Varshan?

The first thing you need to understand is that Echo of Varshan will appear in World Tier 3 or World Tier 4, so your character must also reach this Tier to participate in the subsequent battle. Once your character and build are strong enough, you can head to Tree of Whispers Waypoint, and you’ll find a cave called Malignant Burrow behind a tree. In the cave, there’s a path that leads you to a small dungeon. At the end of the dungeon, there’s an altar, which is where you place your summoning materials.

In Diablo 4 Season 5, you can fight two variants of Echo of Varshan - the standard variant and Tormented variant. For the standard Echo of Varshan, you’ll need to provide 2 Malignant Hearts in World Tier 3 and 5 Malignant Hearts in World Tier 4, while for Tormented Echo of Varshan, you’ll need to provide 15 Malignant Hearts and a Stygian Stone obtained from The Pit.

These summoning materials all require you to fight a few battles to get them, so before you start farming for them, you’ll also want to make sure your build is strong enough to get through Sanctuary. If not, upgrade it as soon as possible using Diablo 4 Gold.

How To Get Malignant Hearts?

Currently, you can farm Malignant Hearts in a number of ways. The first is to perform Grim Favors, which will give you some Malignant Hearts from Tree of Whispers caches. In addition, every Grotesque Debtor that spawns around Whispers and World Bosses has a chance to drop some Malignant Hearts.

When a Grotesque Debtor spawns, you will find a signal in the text bulletin at the top of the screen, which you can use to maximize your farming efficiency. Alternatively, you can find some Malignant Hearts in Helltide Chests, Infernal Hordes, or Nightmare Dungeons.

How To Defeat Echo Of Varshan?

Although Echo of Varshan is not the most challenging boss in the game, you still need to learn some combat skills and strategies before fighting it. Here are the things you need to pay attention to when fighting it.

Enhance Shadow Resistance

Before fighting, you need to know that Echo of Varshan will launch some arcane assaults on you, so you need to enhance some magical defenses accordingly. If you can’t reach 70% Shadow Resistance cap in your build, you can try to use Potent Elixir of Shadow Resistance to help you complete this defense build.

Pay Attention To Your Position Between You And Boss

During the battle, Echo of Varshan is very flexible and will appear near you unexpectedly and cause damage to you, so you need to pay attention to your position between you and the boss. The best position is to be behind Echo of Varshan so that its frontal attacks on you will not be effective.

Pay Attention To Some Void Zones

Besides arcane assaults, Echo of Varshan will also generate triangular void zones for you. These areas will adjust in real time according to the direction of the boss’s movement, and once you enter these areas, you will be very damaged. So you also need to pay attention to the direction of these areas.

Initial Elite Adds

During the battle, Echo of Varshan will also summon two powerful Elites to help it knock you down. At this point, you should focus on the two Elites, not the boss. Because they will also do a lot of damage to you and will cause your health to decline faster.

Echo Of Varshan’s Loot

When you use different classes, the loot you get from Echo of Varshan will also be different. You can refer to the following list for specific loot. However, it should be noted that not all Uniques will appear in a battle, but there is a chance to appear.

The same is true for Mythic Uniques dropped by Tormented Echo of Varshan. In the change of endgame bosses drop rate in Season 5, all Tormented variants of Boss have only 7.5% chance to drop Mythic Uniques. If your goal is only Mythic Uniques and the build is strong enough, you can directly challenge Tormented Echo of Varshan.
