If you’ve already gotten deep into Last Epoch Season 2, you’ve probably encountered one of the most powerful bosses in The Void, Harbinger of Hatred. This boss isn’t just an ordinary encounter, it has a Tank archetype and will provide you with an unprecedented challenge by combining powerful physical skills with devastating Void skills.
But this boss is not an optional enemy, which means you have to face it, and more importantly, defeating Harbinger of Hatred is not only the key to advancing Forgotten Knights Endgame Faction, but also a prerequisite for challenging Aberroth Pinnacle Boss. So prepare for the challenge of this Harbinger of Hatred boss early.
But don’t worry, here we will take you through the location of this boss, the equipment you need to prepare, and tips on dealing with Harbinger of Hatred’s attacks to help you survive this dangerous encounter. Without further ado, let’s get straight to it!
How To Find Harbinger Of Hatred?
First, the prerequisite for finding Harbinger of Hatred is to complete Black Sun timeline and defeat the enemy at the end, Rahyeh.
In addition to this, another key factor that affects Harbinger’s appearance is the corruption level of the timeline, that is, the higher the corruption level, the higher the probability of this boss appearing.
Specifically, your first encounter with Harbinger of Hatred will be around corruption level 100, and it will appear every 25 levels thereafter, up to level 300.
However, because the normal Monolith of Fate has a corruption level cap of 50, you must unlock the empowered versions of all timelines to continue this quest.
So, you need to complete the normal versions of three timelines first:
- Spirits of Fire
- The Last Ruin
- The Age of Winter
Then, immediately go to the central island connecting the three timelines and interact with the treasure chest there to activate all the empowered versions.
After completing the enhancement, you can continue to explore the Black Sun Timeline, complete each Quest Echo, and then continue to increase the corruption level to increase the chance of encountering Harbinger boss.
However, I must remind you that Corruption is a key mechanism in Monolith of Fate system. As your corruption level increases, the enemies you encounter will become stronger, but at the same time, it will benefit us with higher item rarity, more Last Epoch Gold and XP rewards, and loot drop rates. So there are both risks and benefits.
Equipment Priority
For equipment selection, you must prioritize Harbinger of Hatred as a boss that uses void and physical damage as the main damage output, so it is crucial to prepare equipment that can resist these types of damage. In addition, don’t forget to choose the right modifiers, which can make your battle path easier and increase your tolerance rate.
Like we said before, the stats and Echo Modifiers you should prioritize when choosing gear include:
Gear Stats
- Void Resistance: Harbinger of Hatred deals a lot of void damage, so stacking Void Resistance to avoid death is what you need to do first.
- Movement Speed: Many of this boss’s attacks have a foreshadowing effect, so you can avoid most of the damage by quickly dodging.
- High Life and Armor: As a tank-like boss, Harbinger deals a lot of physical damage, and a piece of gear with high armor and life is key to your survivability.
- Endurance Damage Reduction: This will help you absorb attacks and improve your tanking ability.
Echo Modifiers
- Avoid: This can increase enemy crit chance or dodge chance if your build relies on crits or ailments applied on hit.
- Take: Modifiers that affect rare enemies but not bosses, making them a safe choice to increase rewards without increasing difficulty.
Harbinger Of Hatred’s Attacks
Before defeating Harbinger of Hatred, you’ll first have to face Rahyeh, the Black Sun in the same fight. Watch carefully, because when Rahyeh falls, Harbinger will appear to take his place.
Since Harbinger of Hatred is a tank, not only does it have a lot of damage, but it can also absorb some damage to launch powerful AoE attacks, so you’ll have to stay alert and maneuverable to react to its different attack patterns.
Note that Harbinger of Hatred has a short period of vulnerability between powerful attacks, which is when you have the best chance to defeat him. You’ll need to seize this opportunity to maximize your damage output while avoiding a fatal blow from Harbinger.
Next, let’s look at the main skills you need to focus on when fighting Harbinger:
- Tank Slam: A cone-shaped ground slam that deals a lot of physical damage. When the boss raises the hammer, you must sidestep to avoid the incoming attack.
- Massive Tank Slam: A large-area slam with red telegraphs that deal heavy physical damage. Just quickly move away from the red telegraphed area to avoid the attack.
- Tank Echo Slam: Harbinger and its echoes will slam continuously, sending out lines of physical and void damage. Note that you can only avoid the waves by always placing yourself between the echo lines.
- Tank Void Combo: Three consecutive weapon swings followed by a powerful ground slam. You need to keep your distance from it during the combo and re-attack after the last combo.
- Tank Void Orbs: Lingering orbs will appear at this time, dealing void damage to any player that touches it. Keep moving to avoid these void orbs.
- Tank Void Portal Blast: Random boss portals will open around you, dealing physical and void damage to you, and you must stay away from them.
- Tank Void Rush: Harbinger will charge forward, dealing physical and void damage. Simply dodge sideways to avoid taking damage.
- Tank Void Turrets: There are void projectiles that scatter in a straight line, so you must stay out of the turret’s fire range.
- Void Slam: The boss will target a large area with its slam, so if you find it marked on the ground, dodge or move to an unmarked area.
- Void Meteors: Summons multiple meteors that deal moderate void damage on impact. You must keep moving to avoid the random meteors that fall.
- Void Flares: This causes a cone of void attacks that radiates outward in a pancake shape. Pay attention to the direction of the flares and move in the opposite direction to stay safe.
Rewards
After you defeat Harbinger of Hatred, you can earn some rewards for Forgotten Knights Faction, including World Splitter two-handed axe, which is essential for Void Knight builds, and the key quest items Harbinger’s Needle and Harbinger Eye.
These loot will not only optimize your build, but are also key items to continue your progress in Tombs Of The Erased. No matter what, Harbinger is a powerful opponent that you cannot avoid in the new season, so why not face it head-on? After all, the pleasure of winning by yourself is incomparable!
