Source: IGGMAfter the release of Patch 7.01 for FFXIV, all players are eager to compete in the first Savage tier of FFXIV’s Dawntrail. Although everyone will have their own strategies, I believe many players can’t wait.
As with any previous encounter, you need to achieve the goal of defeating the enemy in a variety of ways. For some players, it may be more important to focus on the cooperation between the team and want to make a set of equipment that suits the members of the group, while others want to adapt themselves to the team and make a set of equipment that can be used by various teams.
Both are possible, so before the official release of July 30, what you need to do is to understand the attribute priority of the fusion and collect equipment with the attributes needed to fill the gaps. In this way, you can be calm when you are in a formal match or battle.
At present, some equipment options are more suitable for certain jobs than others. While this gear set may be suitable for most players, you can adjust the attributes according to the play style and maximize the rotation of the team. This guide will walk you through what you need to do to prepare for the different jobs.
Best Gear Before Arcadion Savage
No matter what job you play, there are a few items that you will want, though with some adjustments based on the stat priorities you choose.
You’ll want weapons for Worqor Lar Dor Extreme and accessories for Everkeep Extreme. Some gear sets prior to Patch 7.05 will replace accessories with normal raid gear, but you’ll want to pay attention to the recommended gear for a specific group. Otherwise, choosing by stat priority is your best option.
Players can get two weeks of normal raid gear from Arcadion before Savage is released. Below, each job has the recommended gear that should be obtained before entering Savage.
Fusion Priorities
Before entering Savage, all jobs have the same fusion priorities. As with everything in this guide, this may change as you craft the best gear. Most jobs will use the following fusion priorities for their gear.
Fusion Attribute Priority for All Jobs
- Critical Hit (Crit)
- Determination (Det)/Direct Hit (DH)
- Spell Speed (SpS)/Skill Speed (SkS)
Critical Hit (Crit) should be maxed on all gear, then Determination or Direct Hit (Det) should be prioritized based on the stats of that gear. Spell Speed and Skill Speed can be used to round out your rotation, but should only be used when you need to or your team is trying to round out the buff window.
Pre-Savage Gear Set For Each Job
Healer
Healers can use Fruit and Aloe Jelly as food, plus Grade 1 Gemdraught of Mind, so that your Spell Speed will be integrated into a very comfortable speed, which is also convenient for you to execute or rotate correctly, and most importantly, it can be aligned with the team’s buff windows.
Usually, healers prioritize Normal Raid leg gear, followed by shoes and an accessory. Some players will add a ring and then use stat priority to integrate your gear. If you find that you can’t manage MP well, you can put some Ether potions in your bar as a backup.
Tank
The selection of Tank differs from Healer. Here, Fruit and Aloe Jelly is provided to provide additional Crit and Det, while Vegetable Soup is provided to provide DH and Det. You can choose the food that’s best for you based on your play style or the needs of your team.
For pots, you can carry both Strength and Vitality pots. This way you can pick up gear and FFXIV Gil easily, both when you face off against a mechanic and when you do a DPS check after defeating them.
Speaking of tank gear, you’ll need to decide which gear you’ll use in Savage during Normal Raids - by checking their stat priority. Each tank will need to decide which stats they want to prioritize. There are a few calculators that can help you figure out which gear you should pick up for your job based on your personal and team goals.
Melee DPS
All Melee DPS rely heavily on Det and DH increase provided by Vegetable Soup, but Fruit and Aloe Jelly can also provide some stats you want. Your choice will mainly come down to whether you want to rely on the team or want the team to cooperate with you.
Melee DPS has a few Normal Raid gear that’s best suited for each job. Use the gear calculator to figure out which stats you want to prioritize, and keep in mind that Vitality may be a stat to consider when going into Savage fights. The longer the fight, the more you see, and the more survival skills you learn to understand the next mechanic.
Physical Ranged DPS
Physical Ranged DPS gear is pretty much the same, with Vegetable Soup for food and Dexterity pots for their medicine.
Using fused attribute priorities, Normal Raid gear is pretty standard across all three jobs in this class. Players should prioritize getting the legs, then the chest. Many players will get the chest in the second and third weeks of Normal Raids, so be prepared to do a few more until you can get all four pieces.
Most jobs in this class don’t require Skill Speed meld, as the standard attributes will allow for double weaving and fully aligned buff windows. Focusing on Crit, Det, and DH, you should prepare your gear until you can get a crafted set.
Magical Ranged DPS
Casters are also pretty standard in terms of gear across jobs. Like all other DPS jobs, casters can use Vegetable Soup for food. For potions, Intelligence Gemdraughts are sufficient.
Normal Raid gear gives you access to hands and feet, which are the first parts to pick up, followed by legs the following week. Since casters must remain still to cast certain spells, it can be difficult for them to get around the mechanics, so consider using fusion to change SpS and practice slidecasting.
The reduction in the time required to cast a spell will affect the timing of slidecasting, which is a must if you want to maximize damage and practice ABC — Always Be Casting. It also affects the timing of the burst window, so be sure to coordinate with your team when to start the burst.
The above are some preparations you need to make before Savage Raid. I hope you can have fun playing this new content on FFXIV’s Dawntrail!
