Source: IGGMA fake cinematic trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, FromSoftware's anticipated Elden Ring expansion, is circulating online. The trailer contains misleading information on the DLC's size, new weapons and quests, more unique reward and Elden Ring Runes, and enemy types. It's important to note that the leaked content is completely false, and one should exercise discretion when encountering such claims online.
Shadow of the Erdtree is the highly anticipated expansion for FromSoftware's popular open-world RPG, Elden Ring, announced in February to delight its enthusiastic fan base.
Despite the limited information available on this upcoming DLC, dedicated followers have been analyzing the official artwork in hopes of uncovering clues to Elden Ring's complex narrative. However, the release date and other pertinent details remain undisclosed at this time.
Despite rumors that the DLC might focus on Miquella, the brother of Malenia, the Scarlet Rot queen, there has been no official statement to support this theory. Unfortunately, some individuals have fallen prey to a recent online "leak" that turned out to be fake. As the wait for concrete details continues, Elden Ring enthusiasts are left itching for any scrap of information to satisfy their insatiable hunger.
DLC's Details Are Fake
A recently surfaced video on Imgur claimed to contain extensive information about the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring.
Among the details reported were claims of "16 new NPC quests," "six new weapon types," "four new legacy dungeons," and "98 new unique enemy types." The video also claimed that the expansion will be "as big as the main game map."
The post claiming extensive information about Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring raised suspicion since it suggested that the only way to access the expansion was through the late-game area Ordina Liturgical Town.
Notably, the expansion had promised an even bigger and more ambitious experience than the main game, prompting fans and community members of FromSoft games to investigate further.
A deleted post on Reddit contained a supposed trailer for the Elden Ring expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, which some users considered a possible leak. However, various commenters quickly debunked the video as a fan-made trailer posted by a creator on ArtStation, a digital portfolio for creators to share their work online. One commenter also expressed skepticism about the reported size of the expansion, which appeared to be difficult to believe.
Following a leaked trailer for the supposed Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, various users in the comments section of a Reddit post quickly dismissed the video and accompanying information as inaccurate.
Many users joked that the information presented in the video appeared more like "someone's wishlist" rather than a legitimate leak, while one user noted that all the details made it seem like a sequel to Elden Ring rather than just a DLC. In the end, it was confirmed that the so-called "leaked" trailer was actually just from someone's Artstation portfolio.
The "Trailer" Was Made in Unreal Engine 5
An artist named Cayde7 posted a fan-made Elden Ring trailer on their Artstation page, stating that it was a recreation of the game in Unreal Engine 5. Using Blender and the 3D vegetation modeling software SpeedTree, Cayde7 extrapolated the official artwork into a 50-second-long video as part of a project.
Although the video showcased impressive technical abilities, it was purely a fan-made creation and not related to any official content from the game developers.
The video showcased moving fog and revealed an image of what appeared to be Miquella riding on the ethereal horse Torrent.
However, the video did not include any gameplay, release date, or any other concrete information. Despite this, many individuals took the video at face value, leading to the circulation of misinformation.
