Source: IGGMRecently, the latest build-Impenetrable Thorns has created a wave of craze on the Internet. Now let’s take a look at its specific usage.
Similar to Lightning Perfumer build, we can also use Impenetrable Thorns to melt bosses. This build can defeat Promised Consort Radahn, but it is not very easy to use. Maybe it will be improved in the future.
Impenetrable Thorns is a new sorcery in Elden Ring DLC Shadow Of The Erdtree. This Spell will cause huge damage to Boss health bars, even in New Game Plus. Therefore, its circumstantial information should be given great importance and notice.
The advantage of using Impenetrable Thorns build is that it will save a lot of FP. For example, in some cases, you can melt Mohg without replenishing FP. Outside of Bestial Sanctum, you can also easily melt many bosses, such as Dragons or Gargoyles.
That’s an incredible amount of damage for very little FP consumption. To use it requires us 24 Faith. However, to increase the damage, we do better spend a minimum of 33 to combine it with Golden Vow. By the way, if you want to level up your character and increase some of your attributes of your character, getting some Elden Ring Runes will be a good choice.
The Location Of Impenetrable Thorns
Impenetrable Thorns is located in the storehouse seventh floor side of Grace in Shadow Keep. To arrive there, you have to pull the lever to rotate the center beam in the room, then climb up the beams and run across this platform to reach a room that takes you outside.
Once outside, walk off the ledge in front of you and drop down to the platform below discreetly. Then turn around and Impenetrable Thorn Spell lies there.
Impenetrable Thorns Build’s Details
Power Stance with Staff Of The Guilty, and the other Power Stance with two Staffs allow you to maintain Boost you harvest from offhand Staff without actual use. You can receive the Maternal Staff by finishing Metyr-Mother of Fingers Quest line.
In the aspects of both Intelligence and Arcane, this Staff has scaling value. Which is significant in creating as much damage as possible here. As for Staff Of The Guilty, Guardian Garrison in Mountaintops Of The Giants is the most appropriate place to Farm for. You can Farm it from Thorn Sorcerers there. Considering the awful state of drop rate, please keep in mind, it will take you a moment to find it.
This Staff benefits Thorn sorceries by 20%, which is the reason we need it in our offhand. Considering blood loss will be key to add more damage to this build, a weapon that can support you to use Ash Of War will be needed.
When it refers to armor, White mask, Alberich’s Set and Rakshasa Set are good choices, which can create extra damage when blood loss occurs, raise Thorn sorcery damage by 12%, and legs for an extra 2% damage as for Talisman separately.
Graven-Mass Talisman to raise the potency of sorceries by 8% is highly recommended. When you are going with Aged One’s Exaltation for an added 20% damage boost, which you can find by defeating the first Winter Lantern Enemy in Abyssal Woods.
Impenetrable Thorns Build's Knacks
Through testing, you can also use Lord of Bloods Exaltation for an extra 20% attack power, and finally Magic Scorpion Charm for 20% extra Magic damage with some reduced damage negation as a side note. It has been discovered that Ritual Sword Talisman will use its effects here, because casting Impenetrable Thorns will cost you some health points, which will negate Boost that Ritual Sword Talisman gives you for having full health.
According to admitted test, you have to at least go with Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear for an extra 20% magic damage to get Flask Of Wondrous Physic. This was added into the DLC and it raises attack power by 1.2 times. And your HP will be slowly consumed during Cracked Tear lasts.
Another recommendation could be Opaline Hardtear. Because it boosts damage negation. And to be honest, this build is a kind of glass cannon, so you may need it.
So now let’s talk about Buffs and consumables that make this build even nastier. Golden Vow is a necessity, as it raises attack by 15% and defense by 10%. You do better carry it-one of the best items added to the DLC.
It raises both physical attack power and Arcane at once. But when blood loss occurs, the degree of damage will become even more serious based on the fact that impenetrable Thorns are Magic-based damage.
Combine this consumable with Seppuku seems to affect damage amounts directly. As for stats, contribute as many points into intelligence and Arcane as you can. In view of Arcane being more important to focus on, I highly recommend that you make sure to have at least a minimum of 33 Faith if you’re going to use Shabriri.
Buff Rotation
Here comes the discussion of buff rotation. There’s a lot of moving parts if you truly want to optimize this build. So you do better to get some information about the duration of each buff you are going to use and the order you should use them to maximize the brief window of time.
Flask of Wondrous Physick that you are given will last roughly 3 minutes, so you do better to use this buff first. And then you can employ Golden Vow, which will last 80 seconds. Shabriri is next because it lasts 40 seconds and Age One’s Exaltation lasts for 30 seconds. Then comes the combination of Sacred Blood Flesh with Seppuku, because Lord of Blood’s Exultation and white mask only last 20 seconds.
Therefore, you’ll have the least amount of time to cast Impenetrable Thorns while this buff is active. As long as the boss doesn’t attack you immediately, waiting for this last set of Buffs is the right choice. Because 20 seconds is going to go by quicker than you think.
Spell Use
This is a stage that you have completely buffed up. Go through Fog Gate and quickly release this Spell with all Buffs active. Keep in mind to take full advantage, you do better to get closer to the boss without actually touching them.
The reason is that this Spell’s hitbox can be a kind of wonky when you’re on uneven terrain. And whiff the entire Spell when fighting a boss isn’t a wise behaviour, or it could be game over. The other reason is that this Spell has a different reaction depending on the distance from the enemy you are.
When getting closer, the Spell will release massive bundles of thorns and do massive damage. But when getting farther, the projectile it shoots up will become much smaller and do less damage.
The comparison of the footage between boss fights with little to no actual optimization will demonstrate a serious problem. And that’s how broken this Spell actually is.
Because you can do all this damage with just stats, the right staff and just a few good talismans. While fighting New Game Plus version of Mohg, you can harvest success by activating Golden Vow and Wondrous Physick.
Now we will discuss what will happen when fighting Mohg with a more optimized version of this build. This build absolutely melts him and that’s not even the full potential of this build. There are definitely more buffs and things which can be used to create more damage. However, this build is essentially powerful, with a little matter of whether you use these things or not.
In a nutshell, in view of kinds of performance, it is assumed that there will have a lot of efforts worked to make this Spell a little less powerful. Just like they did with Lightning Perfumer bottles. But for now, let’s enjoy it.
