Source: IGGMIn Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, you will encounter many bosses in the realm of shadows. According to feedback from some players who have explored Shadow of the Erdtree, most of these bosses are very difficult to defeat, and you may need to spend a little more time on them. Among these bosses, there are some bosses that must be defeated and some optional bosses. Scadutree Avatar to be introduced in this guide is an optional boss, but its battle process is also very difficult.
Here you need to remind you to try to avoid using melee builds, because Scadutree Avatar can use thorns to cause bleeding damage to you. In addition to the build, you also need to know the location of this boss, how to prepare for it, and how to defeat it. This guide will answer them one by one for you.
Location Of Scadutree Avatar
In fact, the location of Scadutree Avatar is very easy to find. You need to reach Church District area of Shadow Keep first. If you haven’t explored this area yet, you can start at Moorth Ruins and then head to Bonny Village. After you complete the quests in this area, you can reach Church District area.
Once you reach Church District area, you need to pull your lever while moving forward to drain the area. After you complete this step, you can go down to Sunken Chapel Site of Grace to rest for a while.
After you drain the water, you may encounter an Ulcerated Tree Spirit. You can choose to defeat it, or ignore it, as defeating it is not a prerequisite for facing Scadutree Avatar. After you rest up, you can go to Tree Worship Passage Site of Grace, which is the arena leading to the boss.
Preparing For The Battle
When facing Scadutree Avatar, you need to know that it will use a variety of attacks on you, all of which will cause thorns to burst out of the ground and cause bleeding damage to you. So before you go, you can equip a set of armor that increases Robustness. The best choice is General Radahn Armor set.
Also, for the amulet, you want to pick one that boosts Robustness, Immunity, and Focus. You can try Mottled Necklace +2 Talisman, which is great for resisting some bleeding damage.
Like Erdtree Avatars, Scadutree Avatar is also not resistant to Fire damage. So if you are using a Faith build, you can use Fire or Frenzied Flame Incantations. Similarly, for Elden Ring Items you carry, you can choose something craftable like Hefty Fire Pots.
If you are using Sorcerers class, defeating Scadutree Avatar will be a piece of cake for you, because you don’t have to get too close to it to deal damage. This means that you don’t have to be threatened by its thorns, so you must make sure to cast Comet repeatedly at a distance. It is important to note that when using a Sorcerer or any ranged build, try to aim for Sunflower’s head, which will cause more damage.
If you are using a melee build, don’t worry too much, you can still use a shield. Most of the attacks of Scadutree Avatar can be easily blocked with a shield, and even when you are hit by thorns, the shield can help you absorb most of the damage.
For weapons, you can try to choose some weapons with Fire affinity or Ash of War. But don’t choose weapons that can cause bleeding damage or Scarlet Rot.
How To Fight Scadutree Avatar?
After you first enter the arena, you need to walk to the middle of the swamp and approach the dried Sunflower to trigger the fight with Scadutree Avatar. If this is your first time here, you need to be prepared before entering, because the boss will start attacking you as soon as you enter the arena.
Unlike most bosses, the fight with Scadutree Avatar is divided into three stages, and Scadutree Avatar has a completed life bar at each stage. In each stage, this boss will use a new attack method, but overall, the strategy for defeating it remains the same.
Here I would like to remind you that you should try not to use Flask of Crimson Tears in the first stage or early in the battle and save it for the later and more difficult time.
Post-Battle Matters
After you defeat Scadutree Avatar, you will receive Remembrance of Shadow Sunflower, Miquella’s Great Rune, and 260,000 Elden Ring Runes as post-battle rewards.
You can take Remembrance of Shadow Sunflower to Roundtable Hold and trade it with Enia. He will give you a very powerful weapon, Shadow Sunflower Blossom Colossal Weapon, and Land of Shadow Incantation.
Shadow Sunflower Blossom changes with your Strength, Dexterity, and Faith, and it can also cause Physical and Holy Damage. On top of that, its Shadow Sunflower Headbutt Ash of War makes the whole weapon very useful in your subsequent battles. As for Land of Shadow Incantation, just know that it requires 58 Faith to use and takes up a Spell Slot.
In addition, if you haven’t completed the main story quest of the DLC, Miquella’s Great Rune will be very useful. This item allows you to negate the effects of the ultimate boss’ grab attack, otherwise the fight will be over if you get grabbed twice.
If you have your own experience in fighting this kind of boss or exploration, you are welcome to come to the player community in Discord and share it with everyone! In addition, in this community, you will have the opportunity to receive some Elden Ring Runes as a benefit from IGGM Discord. Come and participate!
The above are some precautions and strategies you will face against Scadutree Avatar Boss in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. I hope this guide can be seen by you before you fight and help you.
