Posted: Jul 22, 2024

EA College Football 25 is finally here! Here we are breaking down 3 college football strategies. These strategies will greatly enhance your gameplay, not only by having a tight defense, but also by scoring more points and ultimately allowing you to win more games. Let’s get started!

Quick Adjustments

The first tip we’re going to cover is making Quick Adjustments on the defensive side of the ball. Quick Adjustments will allow you to make adjustments much quicker without having to go to each player individually to change their assignments.

Secondary

We can press Triangle/Y button and then press Y again and you’ll see Quick Adjustments appear in the bottom right corner. You can then select the defender in the secondary.

If I click on A, the defensive player in that slot will have a different assignment. However, if I make a quick adjustment to RB (one of the safety’s), things will be different because the position is different. So what we can do is double-click Triangle or Y button.

Then, for that slot defensive player, if you want to put them in a hard flat, you just go left with the left stick. If you want to change to the right outside corner, you can double-click Y and press B. If you want to change him to a deep half, click the right stick. So double-clicking the Triangle or the Y button is a great way for you to quickly adjust your secondary.

Linebackers

But what about your linebackers and defensive line? To quickly adjust your linebackers, all you have to do is double-click the right button on D-Pad. Then you’ll see we have two linebackers, so we can quickly adjust both of those linebackers.

If you want to adjust the left linebacker, you can click X. And then you can make all of those adjustments. If you want to put him in a hard flat, you can go right on the right stick. You can even put him in the middle third and have him play man defense, depending on what you want to do.

How To Quick Adjust Linebackers In College Football 25?

Defensive Line

To adjust your defensive line. All you have to do is double click the left button on D-Pad. We have three players with icons, and you can click on any of them. Let’s say we click on Karlaftis and have him play a blitz. We simply double-click the left button on D-pad and then press down with the right stick.

In summary, there are a lot of different things you can do, but this is how you make quick adjustments to your secondary, your linebackers and defensive line. If you are good at Quick Adjustments, you will be able to react faster to your opponent’s offense.

This is what a lot of excellent players do, and this is how you will be able to make a lot of great adjustments before your opponent gets the ball. Be sure to get good at it if you want to progress faster and earn more EA College Football 25 Coins in the game.

Defending Corner Routes

For the second tip, we are going to talk about how to defend the corner routes. It is very important to know how to defend corner routes because corner routes are an integral part of all offenses in every football video game, and this is true in EA College Football 25 as well.

The reason why corner routes are used in almost every scheme is that they are great for beating zone defense and man defense. So, since corner routes are so vital in an offense, you need to know how to defend them.

Here, I will show you a few different ways to stop it.

Exploiting Routes

One way to defend corner routes is to exploit routes. We can set up another Flood Concept using corner routes.

If you know your opponent is going to run the corner route from the right side, or you’re just guessing which side your opponent is going to run the corner route from, I want you to take advantage of the linebacker on the side that you think the corner is going to go to.

You’ll see that once the ball is snapped and you run the corner, you’ll see it’s pretty tightly packed because you’re running the route. This is something that not many people do, and it’s one of the easiest ways to use and defend the corner route.

Manning Up The Receiver

Now, what other ways do you have to defend the corner route? Another way is manning up the receiver, but we’re going to go with Quick Adjustments.

Let’s say we’re going to use another linebacker. So we’re going to do a quick adjustment on the linebacker to man him on the corner route. So what we’re going to do is double-click the right button on D-Pad. Then we’re going to press A, and then we’re going to flick the right stick up.

Then we’re going to man him on RB because we think that guy is going to run to the corner. Now this also depends on how good the man coverage of that linebacker is and how fast he is. But it’s still a good way to mix up your defense and defend the corner.

Advanced Method

Now I’m going to show you an advanced method to defend the corner that not many people do, but it’s actually very simple to adjust.

We still have Flood Concept on the right side. But this time when we defend, what you’re going to do is put the outside corner on the cloud. But to make sure he can get to that depth, we’re actually going to back him up individually by pressing A and then clicking B.

Because that receiver is the farthest outside and our corner is the farthest outside, we’re going to click B and then we’re going to back off. Next, click the left stick and you’ll see him up.

Now he’s backed up cloud flat, and he’s going to be defending 10 to 15 yards down the field. So when we open the ball, we can throw it at the corner. Sean Murphy-Bunting defends really well and when he catches the ball, those corner routes are going to be completely covered.

Beating Zone Defense

For the third tip, we’re going to cover how to beat the zone defense.

First, we’re going to talk about pull routes. The basic concept of how to beat the zone defense is through pull routes or what are called clear outs, which is to separate the field so that other complementary routes are open.

A great example of this is Flood Concept. Like I showed you earlier, Flood Concept is a streak, a corner, and a flat. It’s called Flood Concept because it floods one side of the court, which makes it very deadly to zone defense. Because there’s not enough area to defend all of those routes on one side unless your opponent is in some kind of defense. This defends that sideline very well.

A really good way to defend this route has to do with a specific defensive technique that we showed you earlier in the tips for defending corner routes. But if your opponent doesn’t know how to defend corner routes and is just in regular zone defense, you’ll see that this corner is open every time on the sideline.

There’s one main reason for this: this streak is considered a pull route because it pulls all of those deep zones back, which clears all the space for the corner, making it completely open.

You’ll also see that this defender has to choose between a flat route or the corner. If he stays in the middle, you can really pass the ball to the flat route or the corner, or whatever you want, especially the corner because there are more yards there. Then you can easily pass it on the sideline.

So most of the time, clear out routes are streaks. So what if I clear out on the left side, then have the RB take a crossing route, and then have the running back take a flat route?

This is a perfect example of using a left side streak to clear out space for the crosser. You can see that the flat pulls down the flat zone, and the streak pulls the deeper area onto the field. This creates a lot of open grass for this pass.
