  You need to find Rootholds before you can enter them, and to do this, you must first obtain a special item called Whispering Woods. However, this item is a bit tricky to get, and you can only find some after you complete seasonal Grim Favors and open Silent chests.

  And even more, unfortunately, the drops from Whispering Woods are not guaranteed, so if you are unlucky, you may need to complete several Grim Favors to get one. But since collecting Whispering Woods is the only way to enter Rootholds, make an effort to collect them and save them carefully.

  Where Is Rootholds Dungeon?

  When you have collected enough Whispering Woods as keys to enter Rootholds, you can activate them in your inventory and then activate regular dungeons into Rootholds just like you would nightmare dungeons.

  Once Rootholds appear, you can open the map in-game and teleport directly into that dungeon from your current location. These Rootholds will spawn anywhere on the map depending on your key, so be prepared.

  How To Explore Rootholds?

  If you’ve played Diablo 4 in the past and explored Infernal Hordes dungeon, everything about Rootholds may be familiar to you. After first entering Rootholds and going through the first passage, you’ll see several Enchanted Roots when you reach the surface. Each of these Enchanted Roots can act as a modifier to the root fortress, giving you a different difficulty level of Rootholds.

  Two of the four roots will give you easier modifiers, while the other two are more challenging. Usually you have to choose a modifier to further explore Rootholds, but it’s recommended to choose up to two if possible. Because if you choose a more difficult modifier, you can get more rewards after completing Rootholds.

  Next, after passing through the main gate, you should see certain points of interest on the mini-map, and approaching any of them you will find an Exposed Root as the source of a huge reward. Clicking on them will spawn a group of enemies in the game, and they will drop many unique items for you. And if you play Rootholds on Torment I difficulty or higher, you can also find Ancestral Uniques by clicking on Exposed Roots.

  It is worth noting that every enemy spawned by Rootholds is also Headrotten, so you can also get a lot of Restless Rot by clearing these dungeons - it is the exclusive currency of Season of Witchcraft. In fact, with enough Restless Rot, you can upgrade the witchcraft power or obtain the elusive unique witchcraft power for that season.

  After you successfully pass through Rootholds, you should encounter a gate with three additional modifiers, and choosing any two of them can further improve the rewards you get and increase the difficulty level, so you can fight all the way to the end. And if you want to get more loot, remember to interact with every Exposed Root you find.

  All Rootholds Dungeon Rewards

  After clearing each exposed root, you will go to the end of Rootholds and make Rootholds boss appear by touching the exposed root in the boss room. Most of the time, these bosses appear as headless shells, but sometimes bosses will grow a head, which you can get as a bonus after killing the boss with a head.

  These heads can be used to craft Occult gems, and after you put the gems in your jewelry slots, your character will get the final power boost, allowing them to break through as you enter higher Torment difficulties and Pit tiers.

  Even if the boss you encounter is a normal headless version, the amount of loot dropped after defeating them is still more than the normal Diablo 4 dungeon boss can provide. Rootholds dungeons have a lot of loot, from different levels of equipment to different levels of crafting recipes, which can help you complete the endgame more smoothly.
