Source: IGGMIf you ask many players which are the most profitable pinnacle boss in Diablo 4 Season 5, they will definitely answer to you that it is Lord Grigoire. Because this boss can be summoned with only very common Helltide summoning materials, and there are a lot of Uniques of its loot. Most importantly, its combat mechanics are very simple and you can defeat it very easily.
This guide will introduce how to summon this very cost-effective boss, how to defeat it, and what loot you can get. It should be noted here that you need to make sure that your build’s survivability and agility are relatively strong first, so that it will succeed in one go.
How To Summon?
Lord Grigoire Boss is summoned in Hall of Penitent dungeon in Dry Steppes, south of Ked Bardu. Once you enter Hall of Penitent dungeon, you will need to defeat some low-level enemies in the main corridor, and then you will continue walking forward and eventually see a Light Touched Altar, which is where Lord Grigoire Boss is summoned.
Here you need to make sure you have enough summoning materials to summon both variants of Lord Grigoire Boss - Normal and Tormented. The suggestion here is to bring 20 Living Steel and a Stygian Stone to defeat both versions of the boss at once.
In Normal version of Lord Grigoire Boss, you need to use 5 Living Steel to summon it at level 75, and then after you defeat it, you will be given a Shard of Agony and some Uniques, among which there is a 1.5% chance of a Mythic Unique.
For Tormented variant, you’ll need to use 15 Living Steel and a Stygian Stone to summon it at level 200. It will also give you some Uniques and 5 Shards of Agony after being defeated, but the chance of spawning a Mythic Unique is different, at 7.5%.
Living Steel is most commonly found in Living Steel chests spawned during Helltide, and you’ll need 275 Aberrant Cinders to open it. As for Stygian Stone, you can choose to farm it in Season 5 exclusive Infernal Hordes, or you can get it by completing The Pit for a limited time.
How To Beat It?
Your fight with Lord Grigoire is pretty straightforward, but it will require you to use some mobility-boosting items and Diablo 4 Gold to make your build and character stronger. When the fight begins, the floor of the arena will emit a grid of electricity and then explode.
Try to stay in the middle of the arena, then sneak to the edge of the room when Lord Grigoire appears. You'll find this phase will appear in a lot of boss fights you're in, so remember to dodge first then attack when fighting these types of bosses.
Then, Lord Grigoire appears, armed with his one-handed, electricity-infused mace that releases a series of lightning orbs with each swing. Your strategy here is still to dodge, as these lightning orbs will deal a lot of damage if they hit you, and the final blow can cause unpredictable damage. If you’re fighting Tormented variant, this damage will also cause a debuff on you - the higher the debuff, the more damage you’ll take. Most builds can’t handle three stacks of damage, so be sure to avoid them.
When Lord Grigoire's health drops to 25%, he’ll summon lightning pillars around you at equal distances. These lightning pillars will form an electric wall and turn the arena into a maze. Don’t use movement skills like Teleport at this point. You can only use the available space to avoid the boss’s melee attacks and try to slow it down. This way you can deal with damage to it.
In the later stages of your fight with Lord Grigoire, he’ll also use some of the floor to cause AOE damage to you - using the floor to explode and take damage. Now is the time to really show off your skills. You can sprint directly to the middle of the arena and use the gaps in Lord Grigoire's attacks to deal heavy damage to him. The rest is to repeat this process until you defeat him.
