Diablo 4 Season 3: Icy Shadow And Death Trap Twisting Blades Rogue Build Guide - Skills, Skill Tree, Gear & Paragon Boards

Posted: Feb 04, 2024

This guide will delve into the Icy Shadow and Death Trap Twisting Blades Rogue, a build designed for use in Diablo 4 Season 3

We will cover the skills, playstyle, skill tree, gear, and the Paragon Boards. Keep in mind that if you decide to adopt this build, it’s advisable to ensure you have an ample supply of Diablo 4 Gold.

Skills/Playstyle

Starting off with the skills, we’ll be using Concealment, Dash, Twisting Blades, Shadow Imbuement, Death Trap, and Puncture with the Preparation Specialization

With this setup, we can nearly continuously deploy Death Trap without relying on the Mastery node exposure. The effectiveness of this build hinges significantly on Concealment.

Concealment is the key factor that empowers this build to function as it does. It refills all of our energy, increases our max resistances, and allows us to heal a ridiculous amount.

Dash provides mobility, allowing us to reposition around packs, get out of danger, and allow for our Twisting Blades to follow through packs as we dash through them.

Shadow Imbuement, Twisting Blades paired with Death Trap nukes packs. The damage output of this combination with the current setup is substantial. And we can kind of just spam Death Trap as we please as it comes fast pretty much.

Puncture is there just in case we run out of energy and don’t have Concealment up, which is very rare, but it allows us to get some energy back if we are unable to with Concealment.

A normal skill rotation will look something like this: Concealment into Death Trap, attacking with Shadow-Imbued Twisting Blades, and then using Concealment again, dashing and positioning as needed.

Skill Tree

Now, let’s take a brief look at the skill tree.

Commencing with acquiring Puncture, opt for Fundamental Puncture, and proceed to maximize Twisting Blades using Advanced Twisting Blades

Allocate 3 points into Sturdy and 3 into Siphoning Strikes.

Advancing, invest 3 points into Weapon Mastery, assign 1 point to Dash, and acquire Enhanced Dash for the application of crit multi to enemies.

Allocate 1 point to Concealment, and obtain Enhanced Concealment to recover 40 energy whenever it is utilized. Devote 1 point to Exploit and 3 points to Malice.

Continuing, assign 1 point to Shadow Crash, and dedicate 3 points to Consuming Shadows for additional energy sustain.

Invest 2 points into Shadow Imbuement with Mixed Shadow Imbuement, and commit 3 points to Precision.

Immerse yourself in 3 points into Frigid Finesse

Subsequently, invest 3 points into Innervation, 3 into Alchemist’s Fortune, and 3 into Second Wind

Pick up all the Death Trap nodes and transition to Adrenaline Rush, allocating only 1 point there.

Distribute 3 points into Haste, culminating in finally acquiring Close Quarters Combat.

Gear

Moving on, let’s delve into the discussion about the gear.

Commencing with the armor, focus on obtaining life cooldown reduction for your helmet, followed by two resistance rolls utilizing the Resistant Assailant’s Aspect. This newfound aspect is indispensable, providing a 10% increase to our maximum resistances across all elements, setting our resistance cap at 80%. Additionally, it diminishes Concealment cooldown by up to 10 seconds upon an Elite kill, ensuring that Concealment is available almost all the time.

The chest plate should prioritize life damage reduction, accompanied by 2 resistance rolls that differ from those on the helmet. Opt for Aspect of Lethal Dusk, enhancing our ability to enter stealth when evading Shadow-infected enemies. Breaking stealth grants up to 5% healing upon kills, contributing significantly to our sustainability.

For the gloves, my preference leans towards Frostburn, enabling the freezing of packs, elevating damage multipliers against frozen enemies, and introducing a substantial amount of crowd control to the build.

Diablo 4 Tibault's Will

Regarding the pants, selecting Tibault’s Will introduces a damage multiplier for instances when we become unstoppable. Given the frequency of Concealment usage in our build, this multiplier becomes a recurrent benefit. Moreover, it facilitates the recovery of 50 energy each time we go unstoppable, transforming Concealment into a source of 90 energy upon use.

Concluding with the boots, my choice is the new Rogue unique, Beastfall Boots. Activating Death Trap triggers a 150% damage multiplier on the subsequent Twisting Blades attack. Although this consumes all our energy, the advantage lies in reducing Death Trap’s cooldown, with energy replenished efficiently through Concealment usage.

Moving on, let's shift our focus to the weaponry. Opt for a crossbow with Dexterity, All Stats, Damage to Crowd Controlled Enemies and Ultimate Skill Damage as the rolls for our two-handed weapon. Place the Accelerating Aspect here. The rationale behind this choice lies in its ability to facilitate faster spamming of Twisting Blades, allowing us to expend energy rapidly to swiftly restore Death Trap.

For the melee weapons, select Asheara's Khanjar for enhanced attack speed and lucky hit chance on one hand. On the other hand, employ a legendary dagger mirroring the stats of the crossbow, housing the Bladedancer's Aspect. However, incorporating Doombringer into this build is highly recommended, as it significantly elevates the overall impact of the build.

Concluding with the jewelry, prioritize an amulet featuring movement speed, ranks to Frigid Finesse, cooldown reduction, and dexterity. Integrate Juggernaut's Aspect to address our armor requirements comprehensively. Regarding the rings, prioritize life, crit chance, lucky hit chance, and damage to crowd control. Employ Edgemaster's Aspect and Icy Alchemist's Aspect. Alternatively, if you possess Ring of Starless Skies, it can seamlessly replace the Edgemaster's ring.

In terms of gems, apply Rubies to your armor, Diamonds to your weapons, and opt for capture resistances in your jewelry. If the resistances are already capped, feel free to use Skulls.

Now, let's delve into the Seasonal Mechanic, the Seneschal Construct. Initiate the first skill, utilizing Flash of Adrenaline with supporting stones Duration Support, Tactical Support, and Safeguard Support. For the other slot, opt for Tempest, incorporating Resource Support, Efficiency Support, and Fortify Support.

Paragon Boards

Concluding our discussion, we now turn our attention to the Paragon Boards.

Initiating with the glyphs on the starting board, we find Closer. Progressing to the Cheap Shot board, Nightstalker takes the spotlight. The extra bonus, reducing the active cooldown of Shadow Imbuement by 4 seconds upon entering stealth, proves excellent, considering our multiple ways to enter stealth with concealment and evading through Shadow-imbued enemies. Consequently, our Shadow Imbuement remains active almost continuously.

Transitioning to the No Witnesses board, Combat becomes our focus for additional crit damage. Descending to the Eldritch Bounty board, Exploit takes precedence, with our intention being to secure the additional bonus rather than obtaining all the points for Exploit. Subsequently, in the Exploit Weakness board, Control becomes the focal point. Climactically, the Deadly Ambush board features Turf.

Regarding the legendary nodes, our selections include Cheap Shot for increased damage against crowd-controlled enemies. No Witnesses grants a substantial damage bonus to all abilities after triggering Death Trap. Moving down to Eldritch Bounty, a 20% increment in shadow damage further enhances our build. The final node we acquire is Deadly Ambush, providing an additional bonus whenever we activate Death Trap.

This concludes the discussion on the Icy Shadow and Death Trap Twisting Blades Rogue build.
