Source: IGGMDuring Diablo 4 preseason, starting a new character is very simple, the biggest choices you need to make are deciding on your class and hairstyle. But now that the first season of Diablo 4 has arrived, each new character faces a new choice: Do you want to play Seasonal Realm or Eternal Realm?
In this Diablo 4 guide, we'll help you make that decision easier so you can get into the game sooner and start killing monsters for some Diablo 4 Items loot.
What's The Difference Between The Two?
When you enter the game and create your character during Season, you will be asked to select "Hero Realm" and the game will prompt you to choose between Seasonal Realm and Eternal Realm. Many players do not understand what this means?
Seasonal Realm includes everything in Diablo 4 plus the latest content additions, and Seasonal Realm is also the only place where you can advance your Battle Pass or Season Journey.
Eternal Realm is Diablo 4 did not add any new things about Season, relatively common, no battle pass, no Seasonal Journey, no special Season mechanism.
Which One Should You Choose? - My Advice
In the stream, Blizzard mentioned this and suggested that you choose Seasonal Realm, and of course I would give you the same advice.
Blizzard's text in the selection menu can be a bit misleading for players, but Seasonal Realm is where Blizzard wants you to play. If you're worried that you'll be overwhelmed, you won't be able to see any new Seasonal content until you've finished your campaign, so don't worry. So, until you're ready to take on the more advanced mechanics, you get a truly generic Diablo 4 experience.
After the release of Season 1, almost all players will gravitate towards Seasonal Realm, so if you want to join a team game, you can definitely find your friends here. But you need to be aware that Seasonal players can't play with Eternal characters, so if you want to play with friends, make sure of that.
When Season 1 ends, your Seasonal character will automatically transfer to Eternal Realm, including all of your progress, minus any Season-only items you have on you.
Basically, all the new things you want to touch happen in the Seasonal Realm, and you won't miss any normal gameplay because you are in it. Also, Blizzard tends to balance the game around Season abilities, especially since Season 1 did just that. So if you're playing outside of Seasonal Realm, you might feel like your gaming experience isn't ideal.

Can You Choose Eternal Realm?
Of course you can, and as we mentioned before, Seasonal Realm characters can only be played with other Seasonal Realm characters, and the same goes for Eternal Realm characters. If you want to play some dungeons with friends using old Eternal Realm characters, you should create Eternal characters, again, you'll need to start a brand new character at level 1 to play the season. You can also look for some Diablo 4 Boosting Service if you don't want to start low level.
You might also want to play Eternal Realm, since you'll be using your old character for most of the campaign. Completing any character's campaign, even a Seasonal character, will unlock the ability for all future characters to skip the campaign. So, if you're already in Act Five of Act Six with your Eternal Realm character, what you should do is finish the campaign before starting your Seasonal character.
Finally, if you really don't like the current season's Seasonal mechanics, but you still want to keep playing dungeons, you can play in Eternal Realm to avoid the new stuff.
