Source: IGGMAs Diablo 4’s full release draws closer, we’re finding out more and more about new content. So, today I want to take a moment to talk about level scaling. Even though this is a topic we’ve known about for a while, many of you expressed an interest in some details. So today we’re going to discuss and answer some of those questions.
How To Deal With Level Scaling?
The first thing we’re going to talk about is how we’re going to handle level scaling in Diablo 4. You may have also heard that Diablo 4 has level scaling, and this was indeed confirmed in March 2023 Open Beta.
This level scaling feature allows players of different character levels to play their own level with each monster they face and contribute their fair share. But that’s not the same as power leveling for low-level characters and higher-level characters.
For example, two friends at levels 16 and 25 might team up to enter a dungeon. Level 16 will see and fight level 16 enemies, while level 25 will see and fight the same monsters. Also, their loot drops scale appropriately for each player’s level, which is a really great thing.
The reason I say this is that there are a lot of players and thus able to get into the game and level up quickly. There are also people who don’t have that much time, or they can choose to play the game differently. This mechanic also makes it easier to play with friends, which is one of the best things about it.
The fact that the level scaling feature exists so that you aren’t held back in any way by being on different levels really helps the co-op experience.

Advantages Of Level Scaling
Players generally avoid lower level areas. Once they progress to higher levels, the player cannot provide challenges or valuable rewards through monster level scaling because the enemies in these areas are too weak.
However, players can revisit these areas and still find challenging enemies suited to their level. This helps keep the game fresh and engaging. Because players can explore every corner of the game world without worrying about upgrading content.
In addition, there is a team gain mechanism. Diablo 4 encourages players to team up and work together to defeat enemies for extra experience and Diablo 4 Gold rewards. When players are close to each other, it is beneficial to encourage players to stick together and support each other in battle. Not only does this make the game more fun and engaging, it also fosters a sense of community among players.
Monster Level Floors
Also, some endgame areas in Diablo 4 have monster level floors. This means that if the player’s character level is lower than floors, the area will become more difficult to advance.
But it’s not exactly fixed level scaling, rather some areas are harder and have a set level, they always stay until a player reaches a certain level. This feature ensures players don’t venture into areas that are too challenging for their current level and helps them prepare accordingly to further assist players.
Maps for Diablo 4 typically show easier monster levels in green and harder levels in red. This will allow players to determine if an area is too difficult for them to handle on their own, or if they need to team up with other players to continue their adventure.
As seen in other games like World of WarCraft, players are aware of formidable enemies and need to hone and level up before venturing into these areas. Floors and color-coded maps that include monster levels help create a challenging and engaging gaming experience for players.
This is something we’ve seen before in Server Slam. As most of you know, they limit our characters to level 20 and don’t really drop Legendary items. So you can try to attack some Strongholds and loot some corpses to get Legendary to drop.
But there may not actually be an incentive for you to do so, since any loot you earn in the beta won’t transfer over to the main game, so you can play however you want. Anyway, I wish you a pleasant gaming experience after the official release of Diablo 4.
