Source: IGGMWith the launch of Vessel of Hatred DLC and Season 6, the game developers made a major adjustment to the difficulty system. The original World Tiers were removed and replaced with a brand new Difficulty system. This change is designed to provide players with a richer and more challenging gaming experience.
During the leveling process and in most pre-endgame content, players can choose from four basic difficulties: Normal, Hard, Expert, and Penitent. These difficulties accumulate the challenge in the game, allowing players to choose the right difficulty level according to their skill level and play style.
Each difficulty affects the enemy’s strength, health, and their resistance to the player’s skills, providing a suitable challenge for players of different levels.
When players enter the game’s endgame, you will unlock Torment system. This difficulty level is designed for players who crave extreme challenges and rich rewards. Entering Torment 1, players can get substantial rewards, such as unique equipment, rare resources, and other valuable items.
However, these rewards are difficult to get, because Torment 1 enemies have significantly increased damage and reduced resistance. Even the most experienced players may find themselves in great danger.
To cope with this drastic increase in difficulty, players need to be fully prepared. This includes but is not limited to the need to optimize character construction, collect powerful equipment, be familiar with the behavior patterns of various monsters, buy Diablo 4 Gold, and master effective combat techniques.. Read this guide to learn how to better unlock Torment 1 Difficulty.
What Does Torment 1 Unlock?
In Diablo 4, as a Tier in difficulty increases, players will receive more XP, gold, and have a higher chance of obtaining rare items. This design encourages players to gradually challenge higher Tiers to obtain more generous rewards.
When you start a new character, there are only two difficulties to choose from: Normal and Hard. These two difficulty levels are suitable for novice and intermediate players to help you familiarize yourself with the game mechanics and storyline.
As you progress through the game and complete the base campaign and DLC campaigns, you will unlock the next two difficulties: Elite and Penitent. These two difficulty levels provide greater challenges and require players to have higher skills and strategies. These difficulty levels also bring better rewards, including more powerful equipment and rarer resources.
However, to obtain the highest quality items in Diablo 4, you need to unlock Torment system.
Unlocking Torment 1 marks a significant increase in the game’s challenge. This jump from Penitent to Torment 1 is not to be underestimated, and it brings players a whole new level of trials.
Despite the significant increase in difficulty, Torment 1 enemies will drop more experience points and gold, which is essential for the rapid development of your character. In addition, Torment 1 enemies have a chance to drop the highest quality equipment in the game, Ancestral gear.
Torment difficulty has another significant downside. In fact, your Armor Value will drop by a fixed 250, and all Resistances will be reduced by 25%. This means that you need to plan your character build and equipment selection more carefully to ensure that you can still maintain sufficient defense when facing stronger enemies.
Unlocking Torment 1 is a crucial step in the pursuit of top-tier gear and rare items. While players already have a chance to earn Legendary, Unique, and Mythic Unique items before reaching Torment 1, the drop chances of these special item types increase significantly once you pass that threshold.
This means that if your goal is to acquire some of the rarest and most powerful gear in the game, you’ll want to make sure your character is at least at Torment 1.
How To Unlock Torment 1?
First, you must complete the game’s main campaign, which will unlock Elite Difficulty, the third difficulty level in the “regular” difficulty setting.
Then head into Vessel of Hatred and complete its main campaign, doing so unlocking Penitent Difficulty. Once you’ve reached Level 60 and have earned a certain number of Paragon points, you can look for and begin “The Pit Of The Artificer” priority quest in Quest Tab.
Head to Cerrigar in Scosglen and find Artificer’s Obelisk, located in the top-left corner of Waypoint. This obelisk is the entrance to Pit of the Artificer, a repeatable, randomly generated dungeon with a hundred tiers to explore. When players reach the highest level of the game, they will challenge Tier 20, which is the first opportunity to experience Torment Difficulty.
To unlock Torment Difficulty for the rest of the game, players must defeat Pit at Tier 20. This challenge is timed, and players only have 15 minutes to defeat enough enemies to create a portal to the last boss. After successfully defeating the boss within the time limit and completing Pit at Tier 20, players will unlock Torment 1 Difficulty. Higher difficulty Torments can increase the number of rewards.
