The developer of Project KV was investigated and prosecuted by South Korean police for developing a competing product after leaving Blue Archive.
Project KV
In the second half of last year, a new project “Project KV” was established by several former Blue Archive creators. Because Project KV is very similar to many settings and even art styles of Blue Archive, and the developer of Project KV Dynamis One was created by Byung-Rim, the former Japanese server producer and deputy director of Blue Archive, who resigned from Nexon, and there was only a gap of 4 months between Byung-Rim’s resignation from Nexon in the first half of last year and the public release of Project KV project.
Therefore, Project KV was boycotted by many Japanese and Korean Blue Archive players after it was launched, and eventually the game project was announced to be suspended only 8 days after it was made public. Despite being plagiarized, Blue Archive has no competitors in its track with its unique gameplay and very cute art style. At the same time, a huge player community has been established for players to communicate with each other. The students in Blue Archive have their own characteristics, but like other two-dimensional mobile games, there are many limited-time characters. If you miss them, you may have to wait for a year! Since Blue Archive has been in operation for a long time, new players will miss out on many students and resources when joining the game, and choosing Blue Archive Accounts can help you get more resources.
Investigation
However, the matter did not end there. On February 24, the Industrial Technology Safety Investigation Team of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency searched Dynamis One and checked relevant data and evidence. The police reported that several core members of Dynamis One were suspected of taking away assets related to the developer of Blue Archive’s undisclosed projects when they left Blue Archive. The police have filed a public prosecution against Byung-Rim and others for violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act and have taken them away for investigation.
When the project was officially announced on September 1 last year, since several of the project’s main creators were the core creators of Blue Archive, including former plot director and screenwriter Isakusan, music director Mitsukiyo, core art member DoReMi and Mx2J, etc. At that time, a large number of Korean and Japanese players criticized the game fiercely and called these main creators “traitors of Blue Archive.”
Then, Dynamis One announced the cancellation of Project KV only 8 days later. In the notice, Dynamis One only apologized to the players, but did not explain the specific reason for shutting down the project. At that time, a reporter who successfully reported the news about Project KV between Dynamis One and Blue Archive said that the two sides had had offline private communication and “the conflict between the two sides could not be resolved.”
Result
With Korean police officially launching an investigation into Dynamis One, everything came to light. According to Korean media This Is Game, the developer of Blue Archive reported the case to the Korean police after Project KV was released last year, and the project in the police notice that “Byung-Rim and others privately disclosed key information of the developer of Blue Archive’s undisclosed project” was called “MX BLADE”. It just so happens that one of the core concepts of Project KV is “Blade”.
The official spokesperson of Blue Archive recently stated: “The former the developer of Blue Archive employee who joined Dynamis One also participated in the development of MX BLADE. Through internal investigations, we have confirmed that someone had been planning to leak key information of MX BLADE without authorization for a long time before leaving the company, and used it for the game development of the newly established company.”
Now the person responsible for the case has been taken away by the police for investigation and prosecution, which means that the case will most likely enter the criminal prosecution process. The “irresponsible adult” called by the players may now become the “adult with criminal responsibility”.
