Source: IGGMThe long-awaited Black Myth Wukong is finally here, and here we talk about our first impressions of this new AAA game. If you’re still on the fence about whether to give it a try, don’t miss this guide!
Exceeded Expectations
First of all, I have to say that this is an excellent gaming experience, but it still has potential problems. From the moment you boot up this game, it’s easy to tell that Black Myth Wukong is going to be something special. If you’re a fan of fast-paced action, stunning visuals, and intense boss battles, you’re in for a treat.
Incredible Opening Sequence
The first thing that’s great about this game is its incredibly strong opening sequence. This game kicks off with a bang.
From the moment the opening sequence begins, Black Myth Wukong shows off everything it has to offer. The visuals are stunning, the combat is satisfying, and you’re immediately drawn into this visually stunning world that will grab your attention.
But that’s just the beginning. We already have high expectations for this game. If you’re looking for something amazing or fun, I don’t think this game will disappoint. Take the 1.4 million concurrent players, for example, which is a record-breaking feat!
Graphics Design
Let’s talk about the graphics for a second. We all know how good it’s going to be. However, seeing it in person still blows our minds to the extent it does. From the textures to the lighting effects, it’s clear that this game looks next-gen.
Black Myth Wukong is designed to push our expectations of what a game can look like visually. The level design really stands out, creating these immersive environments that make exploration feel rewarding even if the paths are generally linear.
Sound Design
Another thing that immediately stands out is the sound design. Especially in combat, each blow from Sun Wukong’s Ruyi Jingu Bang has a different weight to it, really enhancing the combat.
Whether it’s hitting smaller enemies or clashing with super bosses, the sound effects provide satisfying feedback that makes each action feel impactful. The soundtracks for boss fights have been great so far, making the battles even more engaging.
Area Exploration
Now, let’s talk about exploration. Before the game was released, we thought it would lean more towards a linear structure. However, after playing it for a while, we were able to recognize that the game has decent explorable areas.
Maybe you won’t notice it in Chapter 1, but in the following Chapters, it starts to open up. This means there are wider areas to explore, with hidden Black Myth Wukong Items and optional bosses waiting to be discovered.
Speaking of items, as you explore, you can collect raw materials in the wild to craft new equipment or consumables. It’s a solid cycle that adds depth but doesn’t feel overwhelming. And almost every 15 to 20 minutes, you’ll find an elite enemy or boss, which keeps the pace of the game engaging and action-packed.
You can compare it to the progression of Sekiro. If you’ve played it, you’ll remember its rhythm in a way, just like in Black Myth Wukong. You’ll be thrown into battle after battle.
Upgrade System
For the upgrade system in Black Myth Wukong, it’s already as simple and effective as expected. You can craft new weapons or armor by defeating bosses and taking their materials. Skill Tree is also easy to navigate, allowing you to reassign them. This will allow players to adapt to any play style at any time without any penalty.
Smooth Action
Moving on to the next one, Wukong’s movements and physical damage feel great. His flashy movements have a touch of realism, which makes for a natural experience that never feels over the top. This also extends to enemies and bosses, who each have unique animations and attack patterns that are as smooth as Wukong.
Boss Battles
Speaking of boss battles, this is where Black Myth Wukong really shines. Each boss is unique and brings its own set of challenges. If you are at a loss when facing a boss in the game, professional Black Myth Wukong Boosting can help you solve the dilemma!
More importantly, these bosses are moderately difficult. They are not as difficult as the bosses in Elden Ring, but they are definitely difficult either. We had to stay alert most of the time, but we didn’t feel overwhelmed. This makes each boss defeat very satisfying for players. As mentioned, the rewards for boss battles are simple, which are upgrade materials that will allow you to progress smoothly.
NPCs
Surprisingly, there are also various NPCs scattered around the world that offer side quests, usually involving defeating specific enemies for rewards. These add some nice variety to the game and give you more reasons to explore beyond the major story.
Things To Improve
However, it’s not perfect. Next, let’s look at a few areas that could be improved in Black Myth Wukong, and these are the negative issues we’ve encountered so far.
Performance Issues
First, a lot of players did experience some serious stuttering during combat or exploration. While there were occasional frame drops, overall, performance was pretty solid. However, these minor issues can sometimes take away from the experience.
According to recent reviews, the game is barely stable while running. But perhaps because the developers have patched the game before the official release, we weren’t affected by these issues during our time with the game. So if performance was what was stopping you from getting the game, I don’t think it will be a problem now.
Exploration Confusion
In addition, players can sometimes be a little frustrating during exploration. Because some areas have invisible walls, and it’s not always clear which paths are explorable. Sometimes you even find yourself having to lean against a wall just to figure out where you can go and where you can’t go. This can be annoying when you’re trying to immerse yourself in the game world.
The Story Background Is Complicated
The last downside is that the story can be a little hard to follow in the first few chapters. It’s not the easiest narrative to follow right from the start, so I’m hoping it will become clearer as the game progresses. Hopefully, it all ties together later on.
Final Thoughts
All in all, this is my first impression of Black Myth Wukong. I have to say, it’s a visually stunning game that features satisfying combat, impressive boss fights, and a simple yet fun progression mechanic.
While it has some performance and exploration issues, and the early storyline could use a little more clarity, I’m excited to see where the game goes from here. If you’re on the fence about whether to pick it up, I’d say it’s definitely worth a try, especially if you’re looking for a fresh action experience. See you next time!
