Source: IGGMIn Black Myth Wukong, players can enter a menu containing all Spirits they have collected by going to a Shrine in the game and selecting the Self Advance > Cultivate Spirits option. Players can temporarily transform into any previously defeated enemy or boss and gain the power of Spirits to fight against current enemies.
However, players can only equip one Spirit at a time, and each Spirit costs 1,500 Will to cultivate, it costs more Will to upgrade Spirits. But the game allows players to change equipped Spirits at any time. This design provides flexible combat strategies, allowing players to choose the appropriate Spirits to equip according to their needs and the type of enemies they face. This guide will cover eight of the top Spirits in the game.
8. Wandering Wight
As a Wandering Wight, you can use the huge bronze skull to ram enemies. This attack method can often kill multiple low-level enemies in one hit and is fatal to many bosses.
Obtaining Wandering Wight requires you to follow a specific path until you reach a wooden bridge guarded by another wolf with an axe. You will need to use Black Myth Wukong Items to equip your equipment to ensure that you can defeat the wolf and prevent him from following you into the boss fight area.
Once you have successfully crossed the bridge, you will find the Wandering Wight in an open area surrounded by stone pillars. Since Black Myth Wukong already lacks defensive skills, activating Wandering Wight will significantly improve your defensive capabilities.
7. Guangmou Spirit
It can be obtained by following Snake Trail’ Keeper’s Shrine in Bamboo Grove, avoiding Lesser Yaoguai along the way, until you reach Guangmou’s arena and defeat a Yaoguai Chief in Chapter 1. With this Spirit equipped, the player can replicate Guangmou’s summoning of a snake to spray venom at the enemy, causing poisoning effects. This attack is very iconic in Black Myth Wukong because the venom causes tremendous damage.
While not permanent, Poisoned state lasts for a considerable amount of time, allowing the player to chip away at the enemy’s health over the course of the fight until they are dead. In the meantime, the player can damage the enemy directly as the snakes attack until they can summon the snakes again. The player’s increased Poison Damage and Resistance are particularly effective against Snake Patrollers, Skeletal Snakes, and Poisestone that appears in Chapter 2.
6. Rat Governor
Rat Governor provides a relatively rare ranged attack capability in Black Myth Wukong. Obtained by defeating the corresponding enemy in Chapter 2, Rat Governor can leap up and fire lightning from his staff at enemies, dealing electrocution damage. Extremely useful when distance is required, especially when the player is low on health and wishes to avoid melee damage. Many bosses in Black Myth Wukong can be dealt with more safely from a distance, making Rat Governor an ideal choice for such a tactic.
5. Rat Archer
Rat Archer is obtainable in Chapter 2 and grants the player a challenging evasion tactic. Once transformed into a Rat Archer, players can use their crossbow to fire in rapid succession. This not only causes bursts of damage but also effectively stuns enemies, preventing them from launching any kind of counterattack for a period.
This attack can be a significant change in combat, and is particularly useful in the later stages of the game against tougher enemies. Rat Archer also increases the player’s lightning damage.
4. Tiger’s Acolyte
Tiger’s Acolyte allows players to instantly close in on an enemy and deliver a single, deadly slash with the sword. While this attack only deals damage once, it’s powerful enough to serve as a critical hit. As a powerful Epic Spirit, it can only be obtained by defeating Tiger’s Acolyte, which is located in Chapter 2, and guards the bridge leading to Stone Vanguard boss.
With the increased critical damage players gain after cultivating Spirits, each swing of the sword will deal significant damage to enemies and bosses in Black Myth Wukong. Although the effects of this Spirit last for a limited time, the damage it causes and the subsequent buffs are definitely worth taking advantage of.
3. Gore-Eye Daoist
Gore-Eye Daoist does not deal damage directly, but creates a buff zone by transforming into a specific creature and implanting a secondary staff. The eye on the top of the staff emits a crimson glow. When the player attacks enemies in this zone, the damage will be significantly increased until they leave the zone. Although the staff and its buffs will fade over time, they last long enough for the player to take full advantage.
Considering that most enemies in Black Myth Wukong tend to melee, Gore-Eye Daoist is particularly suitable. If the player can stay close to the staff, restricting movement and luring enemies or bosses to approach, then when not dodging attacks, extremely high damage can be dealt. In addition, this spirit also increases the player’s maximum mana.
Acquiring Gore-Eye Daoist is somewhat challenging, as the player needs to find and defeat Gore-Eye Daoist field boss located behind the blocked gate in Valley of Despair in Chapter 2. To unlock Sealed Gate, players must first fight Stone Vanguard in Yellow Wind Formation and obtain Stone of Sternness he drops.
2. Swift Bat
Swift Bat is a unique option for survivability in Black Myth Wukong. This Spirit grants players the ability to fly, which is especially valuable when health is low and you need to keep your distance from enemies. The enhanced stamina regeneration is also essential for combat.
1. Earth Wolf
Earth Wolf allows you to transform into this huge, powerful beast and recklessly charge directly into your enemies. It is perfect for fighting enemies with large health bars or bosses. Additionally, since the charge effect causes them to fall, when you transform back, you can continue to attack while they are down. Focus points are your major method of dealing damage, and accumulating them is important to get more critical hits.
Each Spirit provides players with a unique advantage in combat. Knowing how to obtain and maximize the abilities of these Spirits is essential to success in the game.
