Source: IGGMIn the third chapter of Black Myth Wukong, you will encounter Yellowbrow. It is a powerful monk, and although it is not a beast, you will still need to fight it in multiple stages. This guide will provide all the necessary information to help you defeat Yellowbrow.
What To Equip Before Fighting Yellowbrow?
You can find Yellowbrow at the end of Mahavira Hall in New Thunderclap Temple, and he is the final boss of Chapter 3. As this chapter is coming to an end, you can go to the right building before the hall to fight the optional boss Non-Pure and any other optional bosses to get extra XP and Sparks.
It is recommended to carry some Black Myth Wukong Items that can improve shock resistance. Because Yellowbrow will use lightning-based attacks to cause Shock status to you. In addition, it has strong magic damage, so you can equip Cloud Step and reallocate Spark points accordingly. And if you die in this battle, you don’t have to start the entire battle from the beginning, because they all have checkpoints.
How To Beat Yellowbrow?
First Encounter
The first encounter is the easiest phase of the fight. To end this phase quickly, it is recommended to use your resources early before he attacks. Yellowbrow is large but fairly slow. He attacks with a scepter, which he can swing wildly or slam into the ground, or stomp on you. While these attacks are easy to dodge, they are all lightning-charged and have a shock effect when hit.
Focusing on full combos and focused heavy attacks can stun him, making him more vulnerable. He will occasionally teleport away to get out of your way, sometimes reappearing on the other side of the room to taunt you. When Yellowbrow’s health drops to one-third, he begins to use lightning-based AOE attacks, and you should quickly get out of his range when he starts charging parts of the floor or shooting trails of lightning at you.
When he tries to launch a powerful lightning attack by teleporting away and raising his scepter, simply rush him and perform a full light attack combo or a focused heavy attack. Each phase has checkpoints, so you don’t have to worry about running out of mana or gourd resources too quickly.
You’ll then fight Macaque Chief again with the help of Zhu Bajie. If you lose this phase, you’ll respawn in Mahavira Hall shrine without having to fight Yellowbrow again. Once this fight is over, you’ll enter Yellowbrow’s much more powerful and difficult second phase in another part of the temple.
Second Encounter
First Phase
If you’re defeated by Yellowbrow in this phase, you’ll respawn at a checkpoint deep within New Thunderclap Temple. This isn’t a shrine, so you can’t reallocate abilities or craft new gear and medicine. Yellowbrow can turn himself golden and grow in size during this phase, causing your staff to bounce off him.
You’ll have to watch out not only for the lightning it emits from its staff but also for the shockwaves it shoots out from the ground. While you can’t use combos on him while he’s golden, it only takes a few charged attacks to return him to his normal form.
As Yellowbrow’s health drops to about a third of his total, he’ll let out a roar that will immobilize you. He will then plunge his scepter into the ground, firing lightning in all directions for heavy damage. This will force you to get your health down to very low levels. Once you can regain control, you will need to heal immediately.
Second Phase
He will then disappear for a while before teleporting to another part of the arena, continuing to swing and slam his lightning-filled scepter. He can also turn into gold, so you must knock him out of this state before you can damage him. When Yellowbrow is down to the last third of his health, he will send out another roaring shockwave, and another cutscene will play as you land another devastating blow.
Third Phase
You should save some skills for the last phase of the fight, deal enough damage to knock him back. If you have Wandering Wight’s spirit equipped, you can knock him right out of his gold form. You can also use Wind Tamer to buff your defenses, Or transform into a Rock Guai to absorb the blows. The damage Rock Guai takes will also balloon its ability to use special moves. Continue to dodge his lightning attacks and use spells between his attacks. After defeating Yellowbrow, you will enter Chapter 4.
